Payment e-mail issue, 29 MONTHS and running!  en

Yes, I first raised this the issue of this bug in June 2016! See below.

Has it been fixed in V17?

________________________________________________

"At the moment (V13) when you set up a shopping cart and choose the option to have a PayPal Buy Now button, the button appears both on the payment page and on the e-mail which subsequently goes out to the customer.

This creates a danger that the customer could accidentally pay twice for his item, especially if he doesn't look at his e-mails for 2-3 days and forgets that he had already paid.

Can you please make it possible to have the Buy Now button either on the payment page or the e-mail, but not both?"

I'm very disappointed to see that this issue has not been addressed in V14 which I'm now using. I've had complaints from customers accusing me of confronting them with an e-mail which appears to be asking for payment when they've already paid!

Hi Donald.

I can confirm that as far as this particular feature is concerned, the v17 still makes use of the same logic for the sending of emails to the customers.

From v17 though, the digital good will have to chance to be immediately delivered to your customers as soon as they complete the PayPal payment. You will no longer have to send them manually. This is only true if you select Paypal as your payment method though.

Please remember that the PayPal button will still show in the CONFIRMATION email.

Since the software doesn't provide the classic account functionality you are used to know in other ecommerce services, this is done so that a user can freely leave the payment page and still get the chance to pay for his order without having to restart to scratch.

Also, in the Sending Order section of the ecommerce, you're free to provide all the correct details which are going to be written in the email

This means that you can explain in your email that the payment button is to be used ONLY if the payment wasn't already completed. This should guide your users in the right direction

Let me know if I can provide further insight on this

Thank you

Stefano

Hi Stefano

In previous correspondence your colleagues have admitted that this is a serious issue, one which should be fixed, not worked around.

I am beginning to get the impression that you are simply unable to fix it. Am I right?

Regards

Donald

and another thing, which negates the suggestion you have made about adding information to the e-mail ........

................ from my post of 02 October 2017

"it's not just the button that appears in the cart and the email, any description or instruction you add does too, and it's not possible to have a form of wording that makes sense in both"

Hello everyone.

This matter is, as pointed out several times now, a very peculiar one, for which a change could not be made for the newest version.

Since such a feature involves many logics inside the software, it will have to be discussed and examined further, and for the moment there is no news about it.

I can still confirm though that the matter has not been forgotten, and is still being analyzed by the developing team, in order to provide the best functionality possible.

For the moment, the best solution for this would still be that of customizing your confirmation email in order to make this as clear as possible for users.

Stefano
