Cheeky Man, Frank's Cyber Cafe, Frank Newsome  en

On Monday 19th of November a bloke called Frank Newsome, known to most "old time" users as "cheeky man" passed away.

The last post I could track of Frank's was around September 2015 on his own Facebook Page in the Frank's Cyber Cafe private group on FaceBook, I believe it related to withholding assistance from a user who was choosing to use an unregistered copy of WX5. If you search here on the helpcentre for "cheeky" you will find many posts (mostly around the release of v9 and later).

If it wasn't for Frank I would not have adopted WX5. Whilst he was possibly Incomedia's harshest critic, he was also WX5's staunchest advocate. Frank's open discussion of failures, disappointments, advantages and kudos through the answers forum (the forerunner of this helpcenter) and his own private group gave me the confidence to adopt this product. It was  a revelation to see a product openly discussed for it's capability and temporary shortcomings (which invariably were overcome).

What I found of greatest interest whilst trawling these posts was how much is still the same today. Bugs in new releases, hostility towards change, ignorance of the correct proceedures with new and changed features and the never ending battle of Incomedia staff, users and moderators trying to explain changes and techniques and maintain a level of decorum whilst assuring users that their pleas for a specific new feature have not been ignored.

I would just like to thank Frank for his involvement and Incomedia for allowing Frank and those just like him today for pushing for a better WX5.

Hi Gordon
Thank you for this information that I did not have.
Franck was a good virtual friend with whom I often exchanged by email and he helped me quite often...
Indeed, I had not heard from him for some time now.
I can not access his Facebook page because I do not have an account.

Rest in peace!

Hello Esahc,

thank you so much for opening this post.
We are very sorry to read such sad news. Please, could you be so kind to send condolences from all the Incomedia Team to his family if you have the chance to do so?

Frank has been very active on our helpcenter since 2012 I believe. He was very helpful to other users and especially to us. Users like him motivate and help us improve more and more everyday and we are so grateful for this. I followed him personally in various posts, he surely was very determined! He really put effort in what he was doing and it was so lovely to see how, in his own way, he believed in our company and our software.

I went through his posts before adding an answer here and I'd like to remember him with a quote he added:

"The capacity to learn is a gift;

The ability to learn is a skill;

The WILLINGNESS to learn is a choice.

Have Fun people!!"

Thank you Frank.

The Incomedia Team
