Search field error on webpage

I am getting an Error message when I and others attempt to enter a search phrase into the online search engine on my webpage (The normal search field app in x5 version 17): Error message
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/content/89/5042489/html/res/x5engine.php on line 3947

Jeremy, can you check with your host and find out what version of php is running?
Version 17 needs at least php version 5.6 or higher on host.
