Diffculty with FTP process - cannot transfer files to web host

I am trying to upload website files to my web host via WebSite X5's WEBSITE EXPORT TO INTERNET interface.
Every time I try to do so, I get an error message that says "Unable to connect to server".
I have confirmed all necessary FTP info with my web hosting service, so am reasonably confident that the FTP info I have entered is correct. However, since I have yet to succeed in transferring files, something is obviously wrong somewher.
What else should I do???

James, you might wish to do a screen shot of your ftp details in WX5 so we can take a better guess.
This is my settings in case it helps
Most people fall for the trap of including ftp as part of the domain name (eg ftp.domain_name.com), as you can see above this is generally not necessary.
