How do I know what size to make the photo?

Here are my settings for www.tihaskennels.com (below)
Obviously, the picture on the website at this moment is not the same picture below but I am having issues on how to know what size I need to make the picture to look similar to that. I am blind guessing at this moment and was wondering if ya'll could help me figure it out. I have the picture (I will need to photoshop more background because the image is a tad small) but All my measurements are coming up wrong. How do I find out what size to make the gray/white dog background picture

CORRECTION:
I blind guess and found a good size.. but for future reference is there a way to figure out the size I need?

it mostly depends on what size of screen you wish to support. In order to allow most screens to display the image properly it should be at least 1080 pixels wide, in order to cover the default 1920x1080 resolution of FHD.
I would suggest trying this out and see if it suits your needs, and then let me know should you need further help with this
