Update to x5 pro v16 requires re-activation  en

In response to a 'check for updates' I dowloaded the update and then had to re-activate the program which I did succesfully.  Upon starting X5 pro I was again required to re-activate.  I can not use the program and I have lost all previous updates to the v16 version.  I also have lost the v15 version.  How can I regain what I had?

Kent, it sounds like WX5 upgraded to v17 and "you aren't entitled to it" (me thinks Update Protection needs more work)

If you are between a rock and a hard place and upgrade protection lapsed before v17 was released, you may not be entitled to install the most recent version.

v15 should not have been affected, but if it was you can go to your profile (top right, this screen) select download. You will also find activation key in same drop-down. You should be able to do exactly the same for v16 (which can get deleted during the v17 upgrade).

If you were using v16 and it updated after your "protection" ceased, please advise what version of v16 you last successfully used and someone here may be able to assist (right click to view source of any website you uploaded). Some of us keep copies of each installable.

Please let us know how you get on.

If I have guessed wrong you may simply have a corrupted entry in appdate\local\incomedia

Hi Kent,

thank you for your message.

Please follow these steps:

  • Go to the Windows Control Panel and uninstall the software there
  • Delete the folders which may still be on the software installation path.
  • Delete WebSite X5 - Professional in C:\Users\ The Admin username \AppData\Local\Incomedia\
  • In you have more than one user on the PC you need to repeat this for each user.

Then download the program from the "My Downloads" section of your program and install it again.

Thanks! Kind regards.

Esahc and Elisa B,
thank you for your replies. Have followed your suggestions and all is now OK.

However one needs to question why an update forces an upgrade to a new version.
Where can you see a comparison of the attributes/specs between versions?
Why should update protection cost virtually the same as a new version?

Dear Kent,

if you are interested in the new v17, please find here more information about the new features:

https://www.websitex5.com/en/new-features.html

https://www.websitex5.com/en/pricing.php#detail_compare

Also, please consider that the Update Protection Professional extension costs €99,50 until the expiration date. After this date, it is not possible to purchase the single extension, but you will get a new license with a new setup for WebSite X5 17. You can find the available offers in the "Offers" section of your account.

Please let me know if I can help you further. Kind regards.
