How do I configure WebSite X5 to connect and upload my website to one.com?  en

If there is a "getting started" guide somewhere online please point me to it. So far I have not found it. I worked my way through the creation of a basic website and now I am ready to upload to a web host. I bought a license for WebSite X5 in a box at an electronics store (MicroCenter) in the USA. I like it that the product users are International but it doesn't help that I can't find the answer to my question. On the box it offers 12 months free web hosting with one.com. I am still getting this thing to work. How do I configure WebSite X5 to connect and upload my website to one.com? I have my account set up with WebSite X5 and I have my account set up with One.com. I just need to connect the two accounts together. Do I use SFTP? That seems like the first question that needs to be answered. With that question answered I would at least know I'm headed in the right direction. My website is obviously not published yet. When I go there I get a default webpage from one.com. I did actually seem to get connected by SFTP but the software crashed. I submitted the error report as directed by the program but I would rather think I did something wrong. Any suggestions?

Your profile says that you have X5 Evolution 12. Because that is an older version, Incomedia don't offer any direct support for it but other users here will no doubt chime in with ideas. X5 has a built in uploader and as long as you have put in the correct details when you set up your site in X5 and then used the information from One.com they would have provided when you set up the account with them, it should all work.

I have v12 but haven't used it for a long time, so will try to run it tonight and see what details it asks for. I am sure that one of the Moderators will chime in with some questions and answers for you soon though.

Hello.

Here is information from the program's help system

Here is the information from the hosting help system.

My domain was "websitex517.a2hosted.com". This is how the settings should look.

P.S. I have paid video tutorials. There is a lot of useful information there, including information on how to set up one.com hosting and upload a site to it.

I don't know how it works now but a few years ago I exported website on disc and sent it to server one.com by filezilla ftp client using login/password received from one.com. There were no errors and no problems. One.com worked fine and thay answered quickly but there were no Polish language so I changed host provider :)

Hi Wayne,

Here is a screenshot from the "Upload website to internet" page from version 12. When you first open X5 and are setting up your site, there is a place to input the web address of your site.

When you get to this part, you need to put in the INFORMATION THAT YOUR HOSTING PROVIDER will have sent you. The user name and password and the FTP address. It's not your X5 password, in case you tried that.

Those details should get you connected to the host. You can vary the optional parameters to test them out, for example you can untick passive FTP in case it makes a difference. Your hosting should direct the site into the correct folder but you can specify this in the optional parameters as well. I think mine uses httpdocs for the upload. I don't use one.com though. My hosting control panel allows me to log in and look at where everything is stored and is Plesk based. You should have this sort of access to your hosting account as well.

I hope this helps you out.

Wayne

Here is another image from my Web Hosting account. It shows the various folders that are on the server. You will see httpdocs highlighted. Don't confuse it with httpsdocs.
