Hello people,

Had rather a disappointing weekend in which I found your HTML Button in the TEXT Box is malfunctioning..... I only need to insert the DATE Format which is [NOW] (Header & Footer) in a text box and it shows the DATE?? This is before I turn on the HTML??

It messed up my HTML Tutorial that I wanted to finish. And when I did turn on the HTML... WOW! What a mess?? It's either not excepting HTML 5 or W3Schools have to rewrite everything they are showing us to do.... I am allowing for deprecating tags but it only seems to be showing non HTML 5?? This I can appreciate and I'll do this again myself!!

Just want the TEXT BOX fixing.........

Hello Frank,

The keywords [DATE], [HOUR] and [NOW] are always replaced in the text box even if the HTML code is not activated. This is the starting design of that object.

We did that because we had a lot of requests in V8 about this feature.

I've also tried to validate a page with a text object containing those keywords and it was perfectly validated in HTML5. Did I miss something? Smile

Thank you!

Hi Frank,

I see what you mean.

A text object should stay text, even if we want to insert Html codes.

In this case you would for example not be able to write a tutorial about these codes and put that in a text box, because that would automaticaly turn into a date, time etc.

I agree and ask the same question here to Incomedia:

Why offer the option to enable HTML in a text box and yet forse these html codes to be active even when we do not want Html turned on??

Claudio,

I get why you ask if you miss something, I did to at first.

I thought, why complain, the code does what it is supposed to do.

But as Frank ( and me to, I make a lot of Dutch tutorials for my clients, who want to start working on their websites themselves after I turn the project over to them ) I want to be able to use a text box to explain what code they need to insert and what it does.

We cant do that if the text box ( without turning on the Html option ) automaticaly activates html.

Yes you are correct Annie!! Spot on!!

In fact what I did for my tutorial was take a screenshot of the [NOW] and make it fit within the text line I was creating.

It worked OK but I know it's not right!!

Hi Frank and Annie,

[NOW] and [HOUR] are not HTML codes. They're just WSX5 keycodes.

In V8, a lot of users wanted them to be active in the textbox and so we did it.

To show that keywords without having to paste an image, just activate the HTML code and write it using the HTML entities for [ and ]:

[NOW]
