Hello, Up until now, X5 has worked on my laptop without a problem. For some reason, now it won't start. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it with no luck. I even tried downloading Website X5 Go to see if it would work. For some reason it doesn't install at all. There are no error messages. I have X5 on my workstation and it works great. I am really happy with the program. I went to the help forum and it appears that a few years ago another person had the same problem. I tried to execute the offered solution but the link doesn't work anymore. Thank you,,,,Andrew

Hello, I'd like to add that the laptop uses Win 10 / 64 Home... Sorry for the omission. Thank you,,Andrew
Hello. Try temporarily disabling your antivirus and firewall. Try to upgrade NET framework.

Hello Aleksej, I did as you suggested and there was no difference. Same result. Thank you for the quick response, I appreciate any help you can give me,,,Andrew
Hello Andrew,
Have you tried completely rebooting your laptop before attempting to install WebSite X5? Sometimes background Windows updates can make this necessary.
You could also try running the program as an 'Administrator', and/or running it in compatibility mode.
We can perhaps find you an updated link if you can post the number of the thread which you thought might help you. You'll find the thread number at the end of the URL in your browser address bar.
In the meantime here is a link to similar threads which might also be useful:

Hi Paul,
I tried several of the things that were mentioned in the posts. I ran as administrator, changed NET Framework, actually copied X5 from my workstation to my laptop etc. No success. It won't start. The next thing I tried was to redownload and install X5. The only version that downloaded, installed and registered was V10. When I clicked the check for updates, it said that I was at the latest level. To create a new site, this works great. However, it does not import the sites that I have already created in the newer version of X5. It goes through all the steps of a progress bar etc. however nothing imports.
What do I do now,,, Thanks,,,Andrew
Personally, I feel the next logical thing would be to take a look at the Windows 10 Event Viewer (which will almost certainly hold details which will help to home in on the root cause of this problem) - the Event Viewer keeps a record of any errors which occur in the Windows operating system.
There are literally dozens of guides on Google explaining how to use the Event Viewer, but here is a link to one in particular which I feel is quite comprehensive:
https://www.supereasy.com/how-to-view-crash-logs-in-windows-10/
When using the Event Viewer, remember you're looking for errors and warning notices which were logged at the same time that you attempted to start WebSite X5.
I have this evening also gone through many of the threads relating to WebSite X5 not starting, and I must admit that I do feel (unfortunately) that we are looking at some sort of corruption within your Windows operating system. You could (if you wish to) try to restore your laptop to a state where it was fully working, using System Restore, if there is a suitable restore point available:
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-system-restore-windows-10
If version 10 of WebSite X5 will install and run, but subsequent versions will not, then that makes me even more convinced that there is a problem within Windows itself, possibly within the later .NET Frameworks, although you do say that you have already attempted to repair them.
I will mark this thread for Incomedia's attention, Andrew, in the hope that they can assist further in getting this resolved for you. Please allow typically 24-48 hours for a response from them, bearing in mind that their working hours don't extend over the weekend.
We'll sort it out, one way or another.

Hi Paul,
Getting to the crash logs per the link above worked on my workstation where I have Win10Pro but I couldn't find any option to set them up on my laptop where I'm using Win10 Home.
As to system restore, I was surprised to find that it was never set up. I have set it up for future but it won't help now.
I'd like to thank you for all the help, we'll see what happens. I'm happy that it's at least working on my workstation where I do most of the work. I really do like the product and hope I can get it fixed.
Have a great weekend,,,,Andrew

Hello,
This issue is still not resolved. Can anyone help me?
Thank you,,,,Andrew
Hi Andrew...
I think you have spyware / malware that blocks you from running the program.
Have you tried scanning with an online antivirus?
What antivirus and firewall do you have?
If you have a third-part antivirus (no Microsoft) have you tried to uninstall it?
Do you have windows 10 updated to 1903?

Hi Claudio,
No questions. When I checked my version of Windows I saw that it was 1803. I went to the Microsoft web site and downloaded and installed 1903. X5 works perfect. Thank you so much for your help,,,I hope you are enjoying your weekend,,, Thank you again,,,Andrew
