Websitex5 V8.0.16 Corrupts And Then Shuts Down / Crashing!
Author: Brendon M.<<< Short Version >>>
Fails 'Website Creation' process, corrupts and then shuts down when error message button ('Ok') is depressed.
<<< Long Version >>>
The Error:
The error is "Run-time error '9':", "Subscript out of range"
The Problem:
When I try to 'Test', 'Upload To Internet' or 'Export To Disk', the 'Website Creation' process will fail at 78% at the end of a particular page giving an error message.
The WebsiteX5 application buttons appear to corrupt and when I like 'Ok' on the error dialogue window, WebsiteX5 application closes.
This means I can never reach the end of the 'Website Creation' Process.
Context:
- I have been a user of WebsiteX5 for many years.
- I have used WebsiteX5 to publish many sites.
- I made no significant changes that I have not already tried to reversing.
- I have tried 'Export To Disk' as well as 'Upload To Internet' and both fail.
- I can however publish other sites without an issue.
- I have tried 'Hiding the page' with no joy.
- I removed the failing page and the Website Creation process will then complete successfully without any error! ... but I have no idea how or why this page is failing and causing the WebsiteX5 application to corrupt and shuts down.
- I have promoted WebSiteX5 to many many of our clients and this very much concerns me ... by the same token, in all the years using the product, this is the first real critical issue we have ever encountered with WebSiteX5 and my main concern is for our WebsiteX5 user base.
Follow-On Question:
Is there some form of 'Error Logging', 'Error Trapping' or more detailed 'Error Message' to help resolve such issues?
Rational:
... someone with less technical skills than I, would have great difficulty and distress trying to resolve such a problem and I personally do not wish to delete pages from a website publication because WebsiteX5 if failing to identify or resolve what will most likely turn out to be a simple syntax error ... somewhere.

Anyone with any insight, suggestions or comments please?
Hello Brendon,
first of all I wish to thank you for the detail and the precision you have added to your post.
There must be an object in the page that is corrupted, please try to delete an object per time in that page and test it each time in order to understand which one is giving you problems. Please let me know!

Thanks Samantha, there are a lot of objects so this may take some time ....
I'll be back ...
Did you find the error yet? I had nearly the same troubble with the software yesterday evening.. Could it be that something didn't work well in the registration process or should I search also after the corrupted object? Are there special signs/things where I can see which one is wrong?
Appreciate your help!
Brendon, did you find any corrupted object to solve your problem? I have come across what appears to be an exact copy of your problem except the error message is different [Runtime error 6: Overflow].
The symptoms are just the same during the creation process, it gets to 91% and then hangs with the error message and corrupted buttons just as yours did.
I am working backwards at the moment removing objects that I've added recently but not getting very far.
Dear Tony,
do you have a shopping cart in your project? The error did sometimes start from that so please, if you do have it, start deleting your objects from there. One by one then test. Unfortunately there's not much we can do to help you because it depends on your project not on the program.
Please keep me informed!
Thanks!
Thanks Samantha, I have deleted the final page which I had added to my project before the fault and it has now disappeared. I will now start to re-build that final page one object at a time and see if I can get the whole page back on - I will update you when that is done.
Ok, great Tony, thanks!

Sorry all, for some reason this forum is not sending me emails when people update the thread, so I only wondered back into the discussion today and noted that my contribution was required. SORRY!
In short ...
I developed a strategy which works well to resolve this issue and it goes like this:
1. Try to upload and watch for where the upload fails (on what page did it fail to upload any futher).
2. Copy the orginal page as a backup
3. Start remove one object and try uploading again
4. If the upload still fails, put the object back in again, and remove a different object
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until your page uploads successfully.
6. When you have found the problem object, correct it in the orginal page
7. Bob's your aunty ... your done.
Note:
It you have a big project, you can copy the problem page to a new project and focus solely on this single page and resolving your problem before step 6.
I know I am a little late with this, but hopefully it helps someone out of what was a deep dark black whole in WebsiteX5 (error management).
