PAYPAL CHECKOUT PAYMENT TYPE  en

I upgraded to X% pro because I thought that I could use PayPal custom code as intended. Now after many attempts I search for an answer and I read this.

Hello Cris,

The wording of the Payment Type options in WebSite X5 is a little ambiguous at the moment.

I would have to agree wholeheartedly

PayPal includes the possibility of paying by credit card in addition to an existing PayPal balance.  However, the option to do so appears only after a web visitor has logged into their PayPal account, or created a new one and logged into that.  Nonetheless in WebSite X5 this Payment Type is designated PayPal/Credit Card.

This is really bad because some buyers don't use paypal and choose the credit card option upfront. This leads to dropped sales.

If, however, you wish to present to your web visitors the possibility of paying by credit card with no reference to PayPal whatsoever, or as an alternative option alongside PayPal at the WebSite X5 payment option stage in checkout, then you should add a new Payment Type to the default WebSite X5 ones by choosing Custom Code.  You can then add custom code from your credit card payment provider to the HTML Code for 'Pay Now' Button field within WebSite X5.

I was told when I upgraded to X5 Pro, that I could use the custom code same as I have done in the past. Well, I tested the custom code feature and created the same PayPal checkout page as if I didn't use the code. So in essence, I don't know how to show buyers that they have a credit card choice without PayPal.

You just can't assume that buyers will know that they can use a credit card if it is not listed as a choice. Please advise as to how to show the Credit Card choice without having to enter a PayPal account first?

See attached that shows even when using a custom PayPal code.

Hello Dennis

I believe that this does not depend on the software's codes. This is already possible with the default PayPal option

As far as I am aware, you need to enable your PayPal account to receive payments from simple credit cards without a PayPal account.

https://developer.paypal.com/docs/integration/direct/payments/guest-payments/

Please consult PayPal's documentation and support to learn how to configure your account correctly

keep me posted on this here

Thank you

Stefano

Hello Kalem

I apologize but I am not sure I understand your question correctly.

If what you mean is that for some reason PayPal does not support your currency, you can try and make use of one of the other systems present inside the software. For example MultiSafePay should expand the range of currencies by quite a bit. Have you tried checking that?

I hope I was helpful

Stefano,

X5 Pro - I have my set payment method to email without database.

Thank you very much for the guidance. I contacted PayPal and told them I didn't have an option to pay with credit card with my cart system. Somehow the tech people at PayPal set me up so that I am now able to accept payment first before sending the confirmation. I repeat, I have my payment set to email.

@Stefano

JUST FOR YOUR INFO:

MultiSafepay demands a two year financial screening of any company outside the BIG EU countries (Germany, Italy, France...). I had a conversation with them back and forth regarding my client who has a start-up - and cannot give them such financial report... they turned him down.

So, MultiSafePay WILL NOT WORK for any new & start-up company outside the most wealthiest EU countries!

And, for the 10th time - please add the 2checkout - this way WSX5 will be truly usefull for 99,5% of your clients!

I had spoke with the guys from 2checkout - and they are more than willing to work with you on adding this PG to the WSX5.

FYI:

Even if you enable your PayPal account to receive payments from simple credit cards without a PayPal account.

If your buyers are not in the same "region/country/EU/non-EU..." as the country where your paypal account is registered, they will have to create an account rather than pay by card.

Thanks for the information. That's a real bummer but it is what it is I guess.
