Hello

I want to create a decsion tree application within an X5 webpage. Essentially the use will answer a series of Yes/No Questions and depending on the appropriate answer they will be directed to the relevant information. How would I do this withing X5?

Steve, I can think of a number of ways and it would be dependent of your decision tree and the compexity, but if I did it the relevant information in each case would be a simple web page. These web pages could either all be hidden, or simply placed under a hidden level.

How you get to the appropriate page could be a simple menu (the menu object can now be on the page rather than always in the header or footer), a text document or pictures each linked to an appropriate page or even an image map.

You may wish to provide rudimentary details of your decision tree (or if I have totally misunderstood, then I apologise).

Essentially I'm modernising the Website of our local Beekeeping Association. They have a Swarn page where they ask members of the public various questions so their Swarm Team only get calls about Honey Bees. The problem with the exisitng Decision Tree, which uses different pages depending on the answer given, is that once you get to the contact page you can book mark it and return without answering the questions. Now I could use java to change the visibility of div blocks and make it all one page but I also need something that is easily customisable. So I'm considering using X5 as it fits nearly all their needs it just the decision tree left and I need to work out how I'm going to do it.

One of the guiding constraints I've got for the website is that it needs to be mostly editable by non techie people. So everyhting needs to be simple.

Hi Steve,

at the moment the first way you described is the best way to proceed to manage a decision tree without using any extra codes.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
