Hi Guys

Hi Guys

Just downloaded my first paid-for object - 'Font Awesome'

So, two basic questions that I couldn't find an answer to here...

1 - can these icons be aligned next to my chosen text?

2 - can these icons be added to a menu item?

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

the symbols can only be placed where an object can be placed. So header, footer, grid. In the grid it is possible to place the Font Awesome next to a text object. Since the menu results from the structure of the website, it cannot be placed next to a menu item.

Hint:

The icons are located in the following (hidden) folder and can be copied to paste e.g. can be transferred to a text object: C: \ Users \ user \ AppData \ Local \ Incomedia \ WebSite X5 - Professional \ PluginApps \ 12623706-13d2-42bf-82ce-37d6e23fcd6 \ Resources \ icons \. However, due to their resolution, the icons are only suitable to a limited extent for transfer to another object (e.g. text object). In addition, they are only available in black and white and may have to be colored with a graphics program.

BR Klaus.

Thanks Klaus

I think I've misunderstood their functionality. I thought I could literally place them anywhere in my design to add some extra visual appeal.

Can anyone give me an idea of typical uses for the Font Awesome object - I think I'm missing the point of them.. ??? (not withstanding @Klaus S suggestion of accessing them via the hidden folder)

Thanks

Steve

Hello Steve,

The icons can be used to embellish any web page just as you would normally use icons when building and designing.

For example, in the screenshot below there is a Font Awesome icon on the left, and a Text Object on the right:

The Font Awesome icons have the advantage of scalability as they are vectors.  And you don't need to worry about licensing issues as the required fees were paid when you purchased the icons.

You can also add the icons to menus using the folder in the AppData directory.  The menu icons at https://webx5.pro are all Font Awesome icons.

Kind regards,

Paul

Thanks Paul

I can see you achieved the above with two columns, but the icon looks too far away from the text. Is it possible to have the icon literally a couple of millimetres from the 'C'?

Thanks, Steve

Yes, you can use the margin and alignment settings in WebSite X5 to change the positioning of any Object.

Even closer (personally I think this looks wrong, but YMMV):

Hi Steve,

hope I'm not misunderstanding. If you want to get something more with fontawesome, take a look at the official website (https://fontawesome.com/).

After registering you can use the "FREE" variant for free. Basically you just need to insert a short string of code to use them in almost any object, as long as it supports HTML code.

So, let's take the "Content Slider" object for example:

Same thing for the text object, but remember to enable HTML code:

I hope I was helpful.
