Web store syntax error  en

Author: Edita K.

Dear websitex5,

could you please help me with the following problem?

I receive the following error message

"Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ':', expecting ';' or '{' in /home/zi030900/www_root/res/x5engine.php on line 5460"

when the order has been finshed in the basket and the user clicks "Submit order". The same error apperars when the user tries to log on to his account.

Do you have any idea where the problem can be? I set up the database, added all info from the provider. The email hosting is also from the provider.

Thanks for your help!

Hello Edita,

WebSite X5 requires a minimum of PHP version 7.1 to be installed and configured correctly on the server:

What are the minimum requirements for the server?

Does your server comply with these requirements?

Have any of the PHP files on the server been opened for editing or modified in any way?  I expect not, but best to rule this out early.

Could you provide a link to the website in question please?

Many thanks!

Paul

Dear Paul,

thank you for your advice regarding PHP version 7.1. I corrected the PHP, and it works. Great advice!

We have one more problem: I am testing the online store. If I make the a registration, the order cannot be finished. Instead of placing the order, I get back to the registration. The order can be finished without registration. Do you have any idea what could go wrong?

If you want you can check on our page:   www.all4pets.sk

Thanks a lot for your advise!

Edita

I've visited your site, Edita, and tried my best to navigate through the store/registration/checkout process so I could see firsthand the issue you describe.  Alas, I am not able to work out what is going on, as I am having great difficulty due to the language barrier.

I will ask Incomedia to take a look at this officially for you, but unfortunately their working hours don't extend over the weekend.

In the meantime if anyone reading this is fluent in Slovak perhaps they could try to make a test purchase as a registered user and shed more light on the matter?

I found three threads in the Help Center from users who appeared to have similar problems, Edita...  however, these were supposedly resolved with updates to the software, or modifications to the server.  Nonetheless, do any of these threads fit the pattern you describe?

https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/en/post/195069

The last thread in particular sounds very similar to what you describe, and in that case the problem was resolved with changes to the server configuration by the webhost.  Sadly there is no indication as to exactly what those changes were.

Thanks for the extra information, Edita.

I find that I am unable to sustain a 'logged-in' status on your site, even without using the shopping cart or checkout process.  It would appear that your server is still not quite configured correctly for use with WebSite X5.

Could you please visit the following link:

http://www.all4pets.sk/admin/login.php

Log in with the 'Administrator' email and password, which you will find in Step 1 Settings > Advanced > Access Management > Users

Once logged in click on the Website Test section from the menu on the left:

Then check that 'Session support' is enabled on your server:

Hello Paul, thanks for quick feedback.

I tried to login to the link you provided.

I fill in email and pasword "heslo", click on enter "vstúpiť", but nothing happens. I see the same login window all the time :-(

I have one administrator account in the "Access management"  from the tempalte and created a new one as well. None of works.

I have the same problem with the WebSite X5 Manager Application. Maybe the problems are related?

I am really greatful for your assistance! Is it possible to have a teamviewer assistance or call?

Thanks

Thanks again for the update, Edita.

I believe that your current difficulty in accessing your online control panel (i.e. the URL that I gave you in my last reply) is linked to the issue with your shop  -  I feel the cause is one and the same.

Please could you contact your web hosting provider and ask them to check that you are able to 'write session cookies' on your web server?  They will understand what that means.  You need to have a designated folder/directory on your server where session cookies can be stored, and written to/read from.

I have already asked Incomedia for further help with this, and I don't think it will be long before you receive an official reply from them too.  When they reply they will do so in this thread.

In the meantime it would be helpful to see what your webhost has to say about the session cookies.

I'm sorry but I don't use Teamviewer, etc., but I'll continue to monitor the thread along with you.  We'll get this sorted out, rest assured.

Hello Edita

I can see that Paul has been very thorough in providing assistance for this issue and I must agree with him.

As mentioned by him: "your current difficulty in accessing your online control panelis linked to the issue with your shop. contact your web hosting provider and ask them to check that you are able to 'write session cookies' on your web server"

Essentially, make sure to ask them that everything is configured correctly to support logins and PHP sessions. Once that is done, the login in the /admin page should work as well

Try this out and keep us posted here

Thank you

Stefano

Dear Stefano and Paul,

thank you for your support. I am  communicating with the web hosting provider. I will let you know the outcome.

Maybe the login/ register function is incorrectly setted up, as I could not find a template with login and registration. Could you please provide such a temlate so I can check and compare the settings?

Thank you very much.

Hi Edita,

The necessary settings are implemented on the server, as opposed to within the WebSite X5 software and/or a template.

If your webhost can provide support on your server for session cookies, then you will probably find the issues are then resolved.

Please keep us updated.

Hello Paul,

thank you very much for your support. We got feedback from our provider and finally could find the problem.

As you mentioned the problem was not on your side but with the server. There was a missing folder on the server (tmp and _sub). The provider corected it, and am I am really happy thet everything is working fine now.

Thank you for your assistance!
