2 people buying same unique item at same time

I am trying to set up a store and sell unique items. In testing, I have set one internet session to 'add' a product to my cart but not yet gone to the purchase phase. If I create another internet session, I can still 'add' the product that the other session has already put in their cart. Both internet sessions can than go to the purchase phase and buy the unique item. Is there a way to have the stock quantity reduced to zero as soon as a person puts an item in their cart. However, this would require the stock quantity to go back to one if they subsequently remove the item from their cart.

Hello. There is no such possibility. It is possible to automatically reduce the number of products, but only after payment.

Hello, Aleksej.
Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, this is probably a show-stopper for my website, as the vast majority of my items for sale are unique. It seems odd to me that the software is able to decrement the stock quantity of an item once the purchaser goes through the buy stage (even before paying), but not after putting the item in their shopping cart. I would be very interested in hearing how others deal with this problem of multiple purchasers possibly buying a unique item - do they simply email the second buyer and tell them that they can't have the item?
I am not aware of any other solutions to your situation.
I sent a notification about your question to the company employees, expect an answer from them here in the comments.
One option may be to reword the cart to "register interest", remove payment option and then manually request payment from the lucky customer and apologise to the unlucky customer.

Thanks, Aleksej. I'll wait and see what the company employees say.
Thanks, Esahc. Being new to the 'shopping cart' form of website under Website X5, I'm not sure where I would make such changes (removing payment option and then manually requesting payment) so I would rather not go down that road. However, it may have to be something I consider after I have heard from the company employees.
Hello Barry
This is actually a situation that can never be reached.
If you're using the precise Availability option, you just need to have this unchecked:
if this is unchecked, two users won't be able to purchase the same product. If one user ends the order and the other one click on the Buy Now button to end Step 3, he will receive a message indicating that the product is no longer available, and thus he will never reach the payment page
Try this out and keep me posted here
Thank you
