Beta version failed to install.  en

Stefano suggested I join the beta program to see whether a problem I reported was resolved. However, the beta version could not be installed, and I received the following message:

It was not possible to install the files on your computer.

Please verify that all programs are closed and restart the update.

I tried to do the update again, but got the same error message. Is there something else I can try?

Barry, have you restarted your PC just before attempting the install?

If this fails, please try disabling any 3rd party av and firewall.

Hello, Esahc,

Thanks for that advice - I rebooted and have now updated successfully.

Remember, your version is now beta, whatever you do it will not open in a stable version even if it is newer. Take good care of the backup you created or better still guard the iwzip you created in step five with the standard version.

Enjoy.

Thanks, Esahc.

Yes, I have a system of backing up and always use a copy of the previous project every time I make changes. This way, I can always regress to any previous version of my website at any time.

I will assume it is an iwzip backup (the only safe backup :-)

No, I copy the complete project (its directory) in the Incomedia\Website X5 Professional directory, giving it a new name with the date in it, e.g. "abc.com - 2021-10-08 - clear border - fixed font size". I then open this new copy of the current website as the project to be worked on in X5. If I really damage it, I simply delete it, copy the older project again, and give it the new date/name again. These directories are backed up using the Acronis True Image backup system. Works well - I haven't lost anything (as yet - touch wood!).
