How to change default country?
Author: Martin R.Hi,
I have my website all running well, and it was a bit annoying that in cusatomer details in the cart USA came up as default country.
As we are Australian based, every customer will need to alter this.
But then I decided to add additional postage amounts for the off change that an order will come in from USA, UK or NZ.
Problem now is that as USa is the default country, when items are added to the cart, postage is automatically increased to the USA amount until the customer proceeds to enter their details, when it reverts back to the Australia postage amount.
Obviously I don't want a customer thinking that postage is so high, as they are likely to bail on the order before proceeding fuurther.
Is there a way to make Australia my default country?
Assuming there is a setting I maybe missed when doing the website?

Maybe it will help to change the currency to Australian dollars.

Thanks Daniel,
It is already set to Australia dollars.
Another possibility could perhaps be the culture_id, see screenshot below
Otherwise you will have to wait for the Incomedia employees (if necessary online during office hours in Italy from Monday to Friday), where you will have to preset the country of the most frequent customers.

Sorry - here is the correct screenshot

Thanks Daniel,
culture id and lang code are both already set to en-GB.
Wondering if under country names if I alter 'United States' to 'USA' if it might lose the automatic setting to America and perhaps have no default?
Not an area I'd be mucking around in unless advised to.

KolAsim - thank you, I'll wait and see if there is a work around first. if not I'll hit you up :)
For me, "Germany" is automatically selected because I live in Germany, so a Javascript must make this entry because the word "Germany" cannot be found in the source code of the website.
I don't know if Incomedia can help if the Javascript code detects the wrong country.
Since the office in Italy is expected to be unoccupied over the weekend, a message from Incomedia will probably not be available until Monday at the earliest.
Maybe try KolAsim's suggestion with the extra code (Javascript).
