X5 2024.2 update fails on Windows 10 laptop
Author: James A F.When attempting the 2024.2 update on my 5 year old Windows 10 laptop Website X5 Pro will no longer open. I am asked by Windows "do you want to make changes to this device", when I click "yes" nothing happens, no further action is evident.
I have tried uninstall & re-install a couple of times. Also tried installing the older version which was working well before the attempted update. Now it also will not open.
I am travellng for extended months, I am very busy, with little time to spend troubleshooting. Often I am in remote places with poor Internet connection. It is very frustrating to not be able to do design work through no fault of my own. If I had known there would be this problem I would not have attempted the update.
Apologies if a solution has already been posted, if so I was not able to find it in my search here.
Thanks,
James
are you running WebsiteX5 as administrator ?
click dx on icon, run as administrator...
try disabling temporanealy also antivirus and firewall

I'll also note the failure to load seems to have something with the imRegister.exe file.
Uninstalled again and tried installing the new v2024.3.4
It exhibits the same problem.

Turned off antivirus & VPN. Also clicked run as adminstrator as you suggested. Still no joy.
Thanks.
Hello James,
I am sorry about the issue.
If you go to C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Pro, do you see a file called licence.iwl inside?
