I have received an e-mail announcing an update and when I start up the program it asks me if I want to update. When I click un the update now an updatewindow starts up. When I press next I get the 404 error message - server is down or can't be reached - try again later. I have tried severel times, but the result is the same: Error 404. I do have an Windows XP professional on this PC. What to do?

Samme problem occurs, when I try to update my other computer - running Windows 7 - error 404.

Earlier, when updating to the newest version of Website X5, I have had all kind of problems with the update installation.

Your company ended up solving the problem after several days and much correspondance.

Please, don't repeat this.

Things should work without problems when you announce an update or sell a product.

As usual I can look forward to a long and slow sollution from the support team, sad!

I do have the version 9 installed after many days of problems, when updating from v8 to v9.

Now you offer me an update to the program I have bought and installed.

When I ask you to solve the problem, your answer conserns my prior problem.

When starting the v9, the software tells me you have an update!

The software is not capable to perform this update! Error 404

My software is registered and working - without the update - on my to computers!

I don't understand why you promote the update on e-mail and directly in the software - it doesn't work!

I have bought much software from different companies, but I have never experienced so much trouble before from anyone.

I will try to help you as quickly as possible Henrik, the update does work, we have tested it ourselves and many users have already installed it with success. Here's what you can do if you receive the error 404:

Delete your program from your computer completely then download the program from the ''download'' section in the top right corner of this page. Once this has been done, please disable your antivirus and make sure everything else has been closed. You must have a program on your computer that interferes with your connection to the internet. Now launch your program and install again just like you did the first time. Once you have finished you can put everything back to normal.
Please feel free to write back after you have tried and let me know.

Thank you!

It is very funny. I have two different computers with two different windows versions, windows XP and windows 7, I have to different antivirus sytems, I never have problems downloading and installing other software, I experienced trouble when upgrading from website x5 version 8 to 9, I recieved special software from your support team, and now I have to go through a hole lot of trouble again using time to get things to work.

I will be back later when I have decieded if I want to use your software or if I just have to accept I have made a huge mistake buying an upgrade giving me nothing but trouble.

Sad, sad, sad!

When I use open source software like Joomla for free - things work without trouble - I wish you could offer the same.

Fantastic! I do have two computers - I guess I need two unlock codes?

Where do I find my computercode?

When I look at my licences, I get a complete list of computercodes on v8, but nothing on the v9

I do wonder why you don't comment on this quote in my last reply:

Dear Henrik,
I'm sorry for making you wait.
If you wish to install on two computers, please proceed with the manual installation process, you need to follow the F.A.Q. I posted above in order to find your computer code.

I'm sorry for not answering to the comment you wrote above, I wanted to get straight to the issue and help you solve it as quickly as possible.
Unfortunately I can not tell you why you are having issues, I would have to see your computers, maybe their is something on them that is somehow blocking the program.

Good morning Henrik,

yes, if you install on two computers you need to unlock the program twice. You have to follow the manual activation instructions in order to unlock your program adding the codes in it.
Please read this post and follow the instructions in it, I can not help you otherwise:

http://answers.websitex5.com/post/25631

When you start this process you will find a link with your computer code, you have to give that to me.

I can't figure it out. Maybe I am not able to explain my problem, or maybe you are not capable to understand my problem.

Please read what I am writing!

I do have the v9 installed on my two computers, and it does work. Both are registered after a lot of problems after updating from v8 to v9, where one of your supporters had to have a lot of files from my computer in order to get it to work.

My problem is: I can't update the v9 to the latest version as advertised by e-mail and integrated in the working v9 on my computers.

I do have a hard time understanding what you excactly want me to do, if I want an update for the working v9.

Are you asking me to delete the working program, v9, from both my computers, then redownload the lates version of v9 to my two computers, then follow the offline registrationprocess in post 25631 in order to reinstall v9, the contact you in order to obtain two unlock codes for my two computers?

Hello Samantha

I did solve my problem by my self and by luck, no thanks to you.

The solution was simple.

I did not remove the working v9 in order to update, I did not register offline as requested by you, I did not need new unlockcodes, I did not need to turn of firewall or antivirussoftware.

I went to the downloadpage and downloaded the newest version offered - and everything worked by itself - the full version was installed, overwriting the former v9 installed on my computers.

The problem in your program was the link to the update provided and offered in the working v9 program installed on my computer: We have a new update, do you want to install?

It did not work and created an error 404

It is sad to recieve support from you - I have tried it severel times. It seems like your training misses fundamental understanding of the software your company sell and communication. In fact it feels like I'm talking to a computer offering links to FAQ - links I have found by myself.

My problem is solved for now!

Dear Henrik,

You started off the post stating that you had issues while installing the software the first time therefore I tried to avoid any other waste of time by suggesting the manual unlock of the program. If you had issues while installing the software in the past and you where not able to install the update now, the easiest way to do things was to download the latest version and install it from zero without complicating your life even more.
I'm sorry for not being able to help you, I can not tell if you have already seen our FAQ's therefore sometimes we suggest you do without knowing that you already have.

Thank you for updating me and for letting me know that the link in the program's start page was causing you the issue I will advise our technical department to check it out.

I'm glad the issue is now solved therefore please feel free to mark the answer you prefer as ''correct'' in order to close your post. You can open a new one if you wish, whenever you want to.

I have just looked trough this conversation.

Maybe you would have understood my problem, if you had read my posts!

I do think thes quotes points toward problems updating the v9:

"Earlier, when updating to the newest version of Website X5, I have had all kind of problems with the update installation."

I" do have the version 9 installed after many days of problems, when updating from v8 to v9."

"When starting the v9, the software tells me you have an update!I"

"experienced trouble when upgrading from website x5 version 8 to 9, I recieved special software from your support team, and now I have to go through a hole lot of trouble again using time to get things to work."

"When I look at my licences, I get a complete list of computercodes on v8, but nothing on the v9"

About complicating my life, as you state. Your v9 asks me to pres a link inside your program - the link doesn't work. When I request support, the supporter doesn't read my posts, the supporter does not check former issues or what versions are sold to me.

You should use your time supporting, rather than defending the lack of support you are able to provide.

Bye, Samantha - have a nice summer!
