Improvements to X5 filing system  en

It is about time that you sorted out X5 Chaotic filing system by default the linked files are stored in 'my documents' along with all the other none X5 files, if you have lots files it makes finding things quite difficult, which is quite unnecessary of I have tried to change this but it always uses this be default, I have tried make a more reasoned approach to the way X5 stores it's files, all my attempts have failed.

For a start it's not a good idea to store any user files in the same partition as the operating system, it simply does not make any sense, apart from the fact that it cannot be trusted to look after one's files this includes all user files not just X5 files, if the operating system get damaged in the worse case scenario my never be able to retrieve your files.

So please please, stop this nonsense of putting files in all different locations, instead it would be much better to have a central repository containing all the folders that are needed, worst of all I do like X5 to make copies without asking the user first, it just leads to confusion.

Hello Norman,

I've edited the title. Thank you very much for the suggestions.

The Default locations where prjects gets saved or the website exported, can be changed. This is only a suggestion from the program.

Many thanks!

I agree, I take full advantage of that, I save all my work on a separate partition, but what I cannot change is where the linked files are stored permanently, every effort I make is thwarted by X5, it does allow the user rather grudgingly to save linked files elsewhere, sometimes after several attempts but it  it always reverts back to the default location which is 'my documents', it's not ideal for the reasons I have already given, even so  but  I would not mind that so much if you could create a permanent sub folder within.

I still think X5 is by far and away the best WYSWYG editor on the market, but I feel it could be so much better with a bit logical thought on how to organise it better within the operating system, please do not make the assumption that Incomedia knows 'what's best' for the end user, let the user decide for themselves, just a simple change in the programming change would do the trick.
