Hello, I am trying to have a guestbook on my site, www.celebrityfragrancesshop.co.uk I followed the instructions I have found on this forum here, BUT despite that after I changed the permissions to 777, the 500 internal error has occurred. Any suggestions?

I have a blog on the same site which works without any problems though I have closed comments due the abuse.

Morning Jarmila,

Try changing the permissions to 755 and see if that works.  Different servers can have different requirements

Hello Paul,

I tried, it didn't give 500 Error, BUT upon testing it gave "There was a problem during the comment insertion"  message. Any other ideas, please?

Hello again Jarmila,

Some more thoughts...  in no particular order...

  • Try clearing your browser cache and cookies before testing, after making any changes
  • The Guestbook Object has to be saved with a .PHP extension (see Page Properties, Expert window)
  • In the Guestbook Object properties window, check very carefully the path to the 'Subfolder on the Server where to save Data' (under Data Save Settings)
  • The subfolder referred to above must physically exist on your server (NB: X5 will NOT create it for you) and the folder must have public write access permissions
  • Go to this URL...  http://www.celebrityfragrancesshop.co.uk/admin/login.php  and enter your Username and Password as defined in Access Management (Step 4 - Advanced Settings)
