I have Websitex5v9 on two computers. just tried to move a website from one pc to another using the suggested method but although the file can be imported it will not open, saying it was created with a later version of the software, which it definatrely wasnt.

Also, I tried updating the software via the check for updates over 3 days but it will not connect to your servers.

It seems that you are releasing new expensive versions regularly rather than updating and improving current versions.

This is becoming an extremely expensive piece of kit.

Please assist.

Hello John,

The V9 update server is active as of right now, 20:50 BST UK  -  I just attempted to update and the connection was made instantly.  So the issue is not on the Incomedia side.

The problem you are experiencing is usually caused by anti-virus software, firewalls, lack of administrative privileges, proxy servers, or a combination of such.

You might be able to connect by temporarily bypassing your anti-virus/firewall arrangement, but if you still have difficulty then you can download the latest program file (9.1.12.1975) by visiting the 'Download' section of your profile (drop-down menu at top-right of this screen), then you can install over the top of your existing version.  Reboot your PC, and run the setup file whilst X5 is closed.  Right-click on the program icon and select 'Run as administrator'  -  you won't lose any data.

This is a preferred way of updating the program if other issues (antivirus, firewall, etc) prevent you from updating within the program itself.

Note that a 'later version of the software' can refer to minor updates as well as major ones.  For example, if you created a V9 project on one computer where X5 had been updated to the latest release, and then attempted to import into another computer where the same V9 patches had not been applied, then the process might fail...  simply due to lack of support for the bug fixes and enhancements in the updated project file.

Hope this helps, but if not then the Incomedia staff should be able to answer your query during the working week.

Kind regards,

Paul
