I've just upgraded from Evo 9 to Evo 10. Base program installed fine on both desktop (XP) and laptop (W7). Updated files loaded and installed fine on laptop. On desktop I got error 406. Disabled antivirus and malware programs. Updated file then downloaded, went through "installing updated files" then threw up the 406 again. Multiple attempts gave the same result. Where do I go from here?

Hello Barry, try the following:

Uninstall version 9 on the desktop (if applicable)

Download the complete and most recent release of version 10 (10.0.8.35) from here:

http://answers.websitex5.com/profile/downloads

Save the file to your hard drive but don't run it yet.

Reboot your PC.  Right-click on the file you downloaded and select 'Run as Administrator'

Follow all on-screen prompts, etc.

Let us know how you get on.

Kind regards,

Paul

OK, this suggests that you don't have what is known as 'administrative rights' on your desktop user account, and this is almost certainly at the root of the problem.

Is this your own desktop computer?  Can you log on as a different user?  You need to try and install the program whilst logged on to Windows as an Administrator, or using a Windows profile which has administrative rights.

Have a look at the information in the following article:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/how-do-i-log-on-as-an-administrator

It refers to Windows 7.  Is this what you're using?  Do you need further help?

Let us know how you get on.

AHA...Success Laughing

Uninstalled Evo 8, Evo 9 and the base version of 10.

Used CCleaner to clear out all traces from the registry.

Re-booted and the file Paul directed me to installed without a problem.

Kudos points to Paul Wink

Thanks for all your assistance.

Barry.
