When I open powerpoint file page begins to download the file (in Google Chrome) and Internet Explorer asks me if I want to open the file or save it but it does not show on the page.

To View Power Point files it is also necessary to install a plugin which reads them in the broswer like it happens for PDF where you install Adobe Reader.
As example on chrome you can use following plugin:

In any case I would suggest no not use a 24mb powerpoint file since it needs to be downloaded completely before it can be seen.
