MISSING FONTS  en

After a fatal crash I had to re-install my OS. I chose Windows 8.1 instead of Windows 7. Then I installed all the software and all the fonts that were previously on the Win 7 system and that were visible in all applications including Office, Corel, Adobe and Website X5 Pro (OpenSans to be exact).

Now again OpenSans (and other fonts) is visible everywhere, Adobe, Office, Corel, etc., but Website X5 Pro ignores several fonts that are correctly installed in Windows.

Attached see a screenshot with X5 Pro and CorelDraw next to each other, Corel showing the font correctly while X5 Pro not showing the font (that was previously set in the given project as default) at all.

I need to find a solution to this VERY FAST as there are several projects depending on the correct use of fonts.

OK, I helped myself, many thanks for the assistance!

Initially I installed the fonts with a font management software into a different folder than the default Windows\Fonts folder and IT WORKED PERFECTLY FOR ALL APPS (Adobe, Corel, Office, even accounting software, etc...), ONLY WEBSITE X5 DID NOT SEE THEM.

Now I re-installed into the default Windows\Fonts folder and voilá, fonts are here... These undocumented anomalies in X5 really drive me mad. SO MUCH TIME WASTED!!!

Please take into consideration that many webdesigners are also graphic designers who work with font management software in order to selectively switch fonts and group of fonts on and off depending on the work that they are working on. I really do not want to have thousands of fonts in my system permanently. This slows down the computer significantly as well as it does slow down the workflow. I really do not see a single reason as for which Website X5 should need special treatment if ALL OTHER SOFTWARE complies to this.

Hello Martin,

The program loads the fonts which are installed in the system folder. In any case for non standard fonts, which are not present in the most computers, also using these in your project, once exported probably these are not seen since the it is necessary to use the webfont version of it because not all computers use the same fonts and not all browsers allow the access to the installed fonts and with the webfont on all devices and computers it will be seen with the font you have choosen.

Many thanks!

Dear Caludio, once again, you are not getting the point.

The fonts ARE CORRECTLY INSTALLED IN THE SYSTEM. According to Microsoft documentation it does not matter where exactly are the fonts physically on the disk. It may be the standard C:\Windows\Fonts folder, but the fonts may be whereever, for example D:\Fonts\Client1, once you install these fonts (choosing the option not to move them to the system directory), the actual location is written to the Windows registry and ALL programs (with the exception of Website X5) do see and can use these fonts.

But anyway, I helped myself and found out without your help.
