Spam into guestbook
Author: Frederik M.Hi,
I got a major problem with spam that comes into mine guestbook.
I use the captcha filter, but even this doesn't work. I found the file where Website 5X stores the data & if I clean that file, wait some seconds and then refresh mine website, I got again spam into the guestbook.
I did allready also change the pasword to login into one.com, but this doesn't help!
Is there, or can there be a security breach into website 5X his securement?
Mine website is www.mattelaere.be and go to the section guestbook!
http://www.mattelaere.be/guestbook.php?
Everything what you see, is SPAM...
I did de-activate also the CAPTCHA filter, so an ADMIN of this board can test it also!
Somebody has some advice? Somebody same problems?
p.s:
I did also, delete that source file completely, but some seconds later, I got again SPAM.
Even a complete re-upload from the website, gives same sh*t....
Hi Frederik.
I feel sorry for you for I have the same trouble, with the amount of questions coming in about it everybody must be having problems. I have tried Captcha and Password Protection but this to does not stop the spam. It is a pity for this is a great programme.
Does anybody out there NOT get spam.
Angus
Hello Frederik, Angus,
I have giving up all hope with the guestbook of WebsiteX5, I did everything, ask help from my provider, and websitex5. Sorry to say but the protection of the websiteX5 guestbook just sucks.
I deleted the websitex5 guestbook and get a third party (free) one on the internet.
Hello Frederik,
Please try to download the attachment and then unzip it and then copy the x5engine.php file in the RES folder in the installation folder of the program:
C:\Program Files\WebSite X5 v10 - Evolution\Res
Once done open the project again and then press CTRL while you start the preview and then export the complete project online.
Please keep me updated.
Hello Claudio P.
I have been keeping and eye on this post for I am also getting spam.
I downloaded and installed the attachment and it worked wonders on my site.
There are lots of photographs on the site and they take time opening, but now they come on straight away, no pausing. I do no know what was in the attachment but THANKS.
I will also keep you updated.
Thanks Angus

Hi Claudio,
I've downloaded the zip file - decompressed and placed on the folder you did discribe. The old file I did changed with name old.
Did open the project & did revieuw it with press the CTRL button...then after i did upload it and added again the CAPTCHA filter.
After complete upload from mine website, I did add 1 message from me in the guestbook & now I'm waiting too see what happens!
I will let it be for a day of 2 & then check again & do a post here, about the result!
You also can check if you want to see the progress of mine guestbook on this url: http://www.mattelaere.be/guestbooks.php
