Phone number format not valid

In the shopping cart, when filling-in customer details - phone number, the usual valid international phone number format is for example +420777777777. When I fill in a telephone number in this format, the website does not let me continue saying that a valid phone number must be filled-in. I would like to give my customers the chance to fill the telephone number including the + sign, spaces and possibly dashes (-), but I do not want to replace the field with a plain text field. I just want +- space and numbers, but no letters. How can I do that?

Okay this is how it goes martin. If you do not like the predefine phone field you can easily create youe own field and it works pretty well.

Hello Martin,
In a custom field it is not possible to allow only certain characters but all work, like the + sign.
For the request to allow the + sign in the phone field please open a suggestion request as "IDEA" so the developers takes it in consideration for the future releases of the program.
