Where is the data from the guestbook stored? Can I delete unwanted posts? Do I have an option of storing the data elsewhere?

Anton,

You can test this offcource, use the help in x5 (press F1 ) in the place where you like help to assist you with creating a guestbook.

Then test and see you can always remove the test comments from your control panel or deleting the information in your website data folder

The information is stored inside a data folder (you name this folder yourself in x5) on the webserver of your hosting company. (you can change this folder but it's always on your website hosting server.

You can set options about how customers can place information (directly or only after you agreed to place the comment.

I can't find the data folder you mentioned. Where do I look? I can see all the folders in my website through an ftp client. The same thing comes up when I look at my hosting company's hosting manager. I couldn't find a "guestbook" folder.

If I don't specify which folder I choose to put the data in, where will the default location be?

And what kind of a data file is it? (What would be its filename extension?)

You can see for yourself what's in the folder. If you don't name the folder you get an error. You need to specify a name, that name will be on your server. (it will be made only after you uploaded a guestbook)

See dutch screenshot of the part where your set the name of the folder to be used for data of your guestbook. (it's in the guestbook object).

But please try to make one and test, this is the best way to see how it works and what you can do. If you don't want it on your home page yet create a small new project copy it to a -new- made test folder, and see where it leads you. If you have trouble creating it let me know, i will help you further.

Andre, I did not set up any folder the first time I made the guestbook, but no error came out and guests were able to make their entries normally.

Der Zwoemti, I tried to login into my admin panel but unfortunately I forgot my username and password. How do I retrieve the info?

The file has no extension and if not filled in, in x5 it is set in the root of your website.

It's a file with just a few characters and numbers. It could be random, mine starts with 3090b02. You can recognise it offcource by looking at the date and time stamp, it should be the same as the last comment.
