Levels and Directories - Folder Structure  en

On a site we want to have proper and effect menu structures
, such that we have

www.craigynoscastleweddings.com/index.html (this can be placed into the root folder on our webserver.

We then want for instance subdirectories

www.craigynoscastleweddings.com/CastleSlideShows/Conservatory/picture1.html

www.craigynoscastleweddings.com/CastleSlideShows/Conservatory/picture2.html etc etc

Then

www.craigynoscastleweddings.com/CastleSlideShows/Function Room/picture1.html

www.craigynoscastleweddings.com/CastleSlideShows/Function Room/picture2.html etc etc

(The above URLS are merely an example)

I can FTP etc etc

But i cannot see how X5 Version 9 can do this easily - ie when we are doing the menus - if we change file names to /CastleslideShows/Conservatory/picture1.html windows of course will not allow that file saving structure.

I cannot see the feature of doing this withing the program.

Of course what i could do is to have seperate projects Conservatory and Function Room, then set then upload them into the Host Folder on the web, then i would have to have links from the index and instead of directing them to a webpage within the program, i would have to link them to an external URL - being the index of the subdomain as such. Rather laborious - so is there an easier way.

I can acheive it as i have here on www.mywebsiteadmin.co.uk for example on this folder structure -  http://www.mywebsiteadmin.co.uk/CastleHalloween/Halloween/default-1.html

But this is just my testing site - and of course it does not have any buttons and when the vistor goes into any of the folders - there are no links back to the main page - this is my concern as effectively you are having a website within a website - with links back and forth to each external folder..

Is there a way within X5 to do this..

Hello Michael,

What do you want to add as example in /CastleslideShows/Conservatory/picture1.html ?

Will be this an external resource or it will be another project made with the program?

WebSite X5 is not creating any subfolders for the pages in the menu.

The only option to make the program create subfolders is to use the HTML&Widget object where in the expert tab you can add files to be uploaded and choose in which folders these needs to be, and in case these do not exist they will be created.

Many thanks!

We in the second folder eg /conservatory we wanted another slideshow - we have sort of done this by hiding some stuff - but ideally another project within the program - i get how to add another project - but thought that it would be easier to do.

I will try your suggestion and see how we get on - although i am wondering if i upload files - do i create them in X5 ordinarily?

Thanks

Hello Michael,

The files you add in the HTML&Widgets needs to be made externally and then the program will upload them during the export in the folder you have choosen to have them.

If you want to create the resources for the subfolders with a new project then you can export them directly with step 5 option and then in the main project you add only the link to this project. In this way you upload them separately.

Many thanks!
