What type of videos are preferred to use in WSX5 Evo 2019.1?  en

Autor: Slobodan G.

I've installed today purchased WSX5 Evo 2019.1. and imported my previously designed template without problems - that's great! But then I changed my old *.mp4 video with the new one which is *.mp4 and saved it of course. When wanted to Preview it in my default Opera Browser, my WSX5 said that it can't be previewed in "my browser". My questions are:

1) Which video extension is suitable now to be used, because the this WSX5 Evo 2019.1, doesn't have any option for *.flv video files to see and to open it. When I open an *.mp4 video file, my Preview in Opera "Can't open this type of video file"

2) Is at WSX5 any possibility to change previewing in different browsers (that I have already installed like Mozzila and Chrome?

In previous version of Evolution 12, I could use many video types, in Evolution 13 was some less, but now, when I paid for the Upgrade to Evolution 14, you tell me I should "forget" uploading videos to my Web site but to upload to Youtube?!!! I am not making Youtube Chanell, but my Website with one of your Templates, also!

With your Evolution 14, I tried *.flv, *.avi and *.mp4 video extensions, but my default Opera browser, when previewing my Web site work, says: "Can't open this type of video file"... So, which type of video extension is now acceptable? If ANY?

So, I paid for the useless latest version of Evolution 14 which doesn't like VIDEOs???

Then I'll ask for my money Full Refund... Or repair your Evolution 14 urgently and give us that new upgrade.

And please, give me proper answers in English how to insert a video file in it! Why was it in German?

Hello Slobodan,

I will flag this thread for Incomedia's attention so that you receive an official answer.

In the meantime, please consider the following:

MP4 files can be used in WebSite X5.  However, they will be handled according to the instructions in the help file:

Different players are used for playing the various video/audio file formats. If the browser supports the HTML5 video tag and the file's codec, then it will use WebSite X5 Media Player to display/play files in .MP4, .WEBM and .OGG formats. All other formats are handled as shown in the table:

So if your preview browser does not support the HTML5 video tag then you need to install Adobe Flash Player in the preview browser before your video will be rendered.  There are instructions for doing that here:

https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/es/post/72788

It's also important to check that the MP4 file you are using has been encoded correctly:

https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/es/post/53536

If you continue to have difficulty you can send me a sample MP4 file at the address below and I will verify compatibility for you.

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Slobodan,

as Paul mentioned, you can use .MP4, .AVI, .WMV, .MPG and .MOV video formats. You can install Adobe Flash Player in the preview browser if the video is not showing correctly.

Please let me know if I can be of further help. Kind regards.

My Opera is the latest version (x64): 60.0.325570, supports HTML5 MSE/H.264, and has latest Flashplayer (32.pp_hc). In my Preview of that page, where video is inserted, I can't see web site address to open it in IE or Chrome or Mozilla Firefox?

Also I've changed my default browser to IE and Chrome, without getting better solution for my video Preview. What browser your W5 uses to open the Preview?

I'll attach you my Video.Info.doc and my video.

Thanks for your patience, Slobodan, whilst I looked into this for you.

As far as I can see there are no issues with your specific MP4 file.  I made minor changes to the codec but it made no difference...  like yourself I am unable to play the file in the WebSite X5 preview browser.

The Pro version of WebSite X5 has an option to preview in the various browsers which you have installed on your own system:

https://help.websitex5.com/en/v2019.1/pro/browser.htm?zoom_highlightsub=preview

This works as it should in my own copy of Pro, and I have no difficulty viewing the file in any browser, including Opera.

However, this is not an option for you as you are running Evo, which does not offer this feature.  And anyway, an MP4 video should play in the built-in preview browser (like it used to in previous versions) provided Flash is installed in the built-in preview browser, etc.

So I spent some considerable time investigating Flash in the current version of WebSite X5.  It appears to me that even with Flash installed in the built-in browser, it is yet somehow 'blocked', and I cannot see how to enable it properly in version 2019.1

In previous versions there was a folder called 'Extensions' in the WebSite X5 program directory, which housed the media player plugins...  however, this folder is not present in the new versions of the software.

I am going to ask Incomedia for their comments on this, and hopefully they will revert to you as soon as they have analysed the issue and can offer some insight into why it is happening.

I will continue to monitor this thread on your behalf.

Thank you for your fastest answer Paul.

I have had the same opinion as you got now!

But I'll NOTE again: With the latest Evolution 13 I didn't have any problem to preview Media Files in W5 E13 Browser's Preview!

Now, with the latest W5 E2019 I have problems, THOUGH I WAS PROMISED it will be compatible with my work on w5 Evol.13. I have got some new (beta) upgrade of W5 Evol 2019, but the problem still exists.

So I conclude, Incomedia should solve the problem as soon as possible - in few days, or REFUND me FULL for this useless version!!! Am I right? Yes!!

Let's see what Incomedia have to say about the situation.

You are right that the preview worked fine in older versions.  However, we have an unusual situation in the sense that WebSite X5 is actively being developed whilst Adobe Flash is quickly being deprecated, and official support for it will actually be withdrawn as early as next year.

So it may be that some other solution will be necessary in order to preview certain media file types in the built-in browser, without relying on Adobe Flash.

I've asked Incomedia to clarify the matter.

Just out of interest, Slobodan...  are you running 64-bit Windows, or 32-bit?  And Windows 10, 8, 7, etc?

Be aware that the coding for the mp4 should be H264.

If the encoding is not H264 for a mp4 then there could be problems.

There are programs that can convert the file.

Yes, I mentioned that early on in the thread.

It's also important to check that the MP4 file you are using has been encoded correctly: https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/es/post/53536

I've checked the codec on Slobodan's file and it's fine.

Good day to everyone

I apologize for the confusion this particular matter might have generated.

I have to confirm that in the most recent versions of the software, due to specific technical reasons, the audio and video files in the projects can no longer be previewed directly in the preview browser.
Do not worry about the final site though. I can confirm that even though these files can not be previewed in the software, they will still load and function correctly on the final website. This is also true if you move the preview to a different browser you have installed (you can do this in the PRO edition or by exporting your website locally)

This aspect is currently under careful analysis to see if the functionality can be brought back properly, but unfortunately there is still no news specifically on this.

Try uploading the website and let me know if you find any problem online

Thank you

Stefano

Stefano, I can't upload my website because it is not yet finished.

Just tel me, and tell to all us who purchased the latest version, how was it possible to preview in Evolution 13, and now, with more sofisticated (or ruined, I'd say) upgrade 2019, it is not possible?

Please, repair that issue or give us back our money...

That would be fair, isn't it right?

Hi Slobodan.

I can surely understand the trouble this might cause, but I have to confirm that due to the technical reasons I mentioned before, this is simply not possible in the current version. The technologies used to display videos back then and now have changed greatly, and this caused the problem the internal preview currently has for displayed such elements.

As I mentioned before, This aspect is currently under careful analysis to see if the functionality can be brought back properly, but unfortunately there is still no news specifically on this.

Again keep in mind that in order to continue with your work anyway you might decide to:

1_ Temporarily upload the website to a subfolder of your domain. This allows you to perform a final tests before publishing your website while keeping it hidden to normal users

2_ Exporting the website locally and opening its files up in Chrome or whatever browser. If you have many PHP pages, you might need the extra help of an external webserver program such as Xampp

I thank you nonetheless for your report as we keep on working to improve the software's functionalities

Stefano

(It > En) ...!... what's the problem when you know what and how to do ...?...

- in the EVO version the video test must be performed in export, locally, ... or online;
- or copy the URL to the address bar of the preview in the address bar of the second browser;
- or use this copied / pasted in the address bar of the second browser:
http://127.0.0.1:8080/
- with the PRO version it is possible to display an alternative browser directly in Local.
... (1 click!) ...
...!... far better to use videos on youtube ...!...

Ok, of course my video works on YouTube! See for yourself: https://youtu.be/2M_B72IxB58

But now, thanks to Stefano, and specially to KolAsim, I understood that I have to add my page name at the end of http://127.0.0.1:8080/, for instance:http://127.0.0.1:8080/dobrodosli.html

and the video will be visible in any browser where I put the address.

Or http://127.0.0.1:8080/prodavnica.html

so that you and everyone, can see full quality of WS5 Evolution 2019! :)  It's great, really great, and not so difficult to use!

Thank you both very much!

Best regards

Slobodan

Sorry for the mistake I made by giving my web sites pages to be previewed.

http://127.0.0.1:8080/ is everyone's personal "Local Host" address and the way to get its own Preview in another browsers, though not using WS5 Profesional but only WS5 Evolution.

Other readers of the Message can't preview until I don't set it at my Server.

Still, my Video Intro, about my web site, can be viewed at above given YouTube Chanell!

Best regards

Slobodan
