How do you upload Website X5 Evolution 9 files using Filezilla?  en

I get an error sign uploading from my Website X5 program.

I can use Filezila or the server's port to upload, but what files in my project go where?

I have a master file on my server called "Public" and with that you have the directory folders (admin, captcha, files... etc.).  That is it for the server.

Do you just upload the files in directory folder called "Preview" to the folders with the same names in the Public folder?

Thanks

This is a very old version.

You typically export to a drive, such as your hard drive (see screenshot below).

The directory on the web server is often called public_html. The files and subdirectories from the specified export directory (see 1. in screenshot) must be copied there using FileZilla.

The best way to do this is to open the public_html directory on the server side in FileZilla and select all files and subdirectories on the hard drive side, then give the upload command and wait until the upload is complete.

Thanks, Daniel

I have my website folder with everything in it.

In that folder there is a folder called “Preview” sharing the same name folders (admin, captcha, files, etc.) that I see in the server, and I think I would upload from the “Preview” to the server.

However, in my website folder I also have a folder called "Upload" that I don't see on my server, so I assume I don't do anything with that folder.

Am I kind of right?

There is no help for those who know better.

Hello Walter,
in order to generate the files that you can then upload through FileZilla you should use the "Export the Website to disk" function in Step 5 - Export.

Thanks, Eric C, I do see that on my program.

One other question.

I uploaded the files to PUBLIC, however, nothing has changed on my website.

Do I need to delete the files and folders that were already there and then upload the new files?

Thanks

Hello Walter,
assuming you have not drastically changed the website, and the pages have the same name as before, the new upload should have overwritten the previous instances of the pages' files.
If you have noticed no differences, it may either be that you are still seeing a cached version of the website, stored in your browser's memory, or that something went wrong with the upload.
If you can provide the URL and point out some elements that should now be present with the current version, we can check if we do see these updates.

I've added a screenshot from Filezilla.

On the top left is the website called "Count Vlad Website" with the files to be transferred.

On the top right is a no name folder with the public folder in it.  When I transfer the "Count Vlad Website" folder to the public folder, the Count Vlad website folder just appears in the row of other folders that are in the public folder.

Nothing changed on my website.  I then deleted my "Count Vlad website" folder from the series of folders in the public folder.

My address is  http://countvlad.ca/

Thanks

Incidentally, the unnamed folder on the top right side does not say "public_html."  It's just unnamed, with a series of folders in it that includes the public folder.  I don't know if the screenshot works.  Here is a picture.

If you find the files with the page names in the right "public" folder in FileZilla, this is probably the correct folder.

And if you find the files with the page names in the left folder in FileZilla, this is probably the correct folder—assuming this folder was also used to "Export the website to disk" in WebSite X5.

Yes, but things are still messed up. I backed up, but just loading the website folder to public folder did nothing.  Thanks anyway.

I exported my test website to my hard drive using WebSite X5 and then uploaded it to a test directory using FileZilla. It worked.

The upload generally works with FileZilla, but I suspect you made a mistake somewhere.

I figured it out -- I don't just upload my website folder.  I have to highlight the files in that folder that I want uploaded. The picture you show has blue colored files, which mean they have been highlighted.  Those would be the files you upload.  This worked, and I thank everybody who have been patient with me as I figured this out.  Thanks, again.
