Database / shopping cart not connecting
Auteur : Lauren W.I have set up a database I will call Shopping cart . all information is expamples
databaseis - hn123_Shoppingcart
username - hn123_user
Password - password for database user
------
Shopping cart database (pull down menu-) shoppingcart
hosting - localhost
table prefix - hn123_
admin email - Email address that is not attached to database, but where I want orders to go so I see them (***)
What am I doing wrong. Everything is in check with the database side, but it is not comunicating when I go to the shopping cart and click "update"
I have changed the database name to shoppingcart (not hn123_shoppingcart) and the same with the username
everytime I get connection error - not possible to complete the operation. Is it because I have never updated the website when I created the shopping cart?

I think I checked everything out.
It is not a subfolder I am testing.
the program automatically changed the page to PHP, I even checked after reading that. All of the testing/changing I have been doing was after the page was changed to php.
Is my user name wrong? IE do I need to add hn123_ before name of database or username?
You can test your database settings using the WebSite X5 online control panel. Full instructions can be found here:

Let us know how you get on.

ok, so the site is live http://www.publichardware.com/instock.php but the database is not working I guess. but this is the results of the admin login
On my screen for website5x I have all the products as avaible inventory, with a number beside them, but it does not show up on the website as that way

also if it helps the email on the picture above says
[2016-01-08 10:12:54] Could not instantiate mail function.
Are you absolutely certain that the WebSite Address (URL) in Step 1 General Settings is set to http://www.publichardware.com/
Sorry to labour this point but it is important to rule this out completely.
Auteur
I think I know what you are talking about, but just to be sure I screenshot it
Auteur
also I lowercased it as well
Thanks Lauren,
Can you please re-enter the URL in all lowercase, then re-upload your project to the server?
That is...
http://www.publichardware.com
as opposed to
http://WWW.PUBLICHARDWARE.COM
I don't think this will be the cause of your issue, but again it would be best to rule this out. The WebSite Address in Step 1 is very important as far as the database connection is concerned, and it is good practice to use all lowercase in URLs anyway.
Apologies, I did not receive your reply in time... please ignore my previous post...
Bear with me, I am running some tests.

So I just did that, re uploaded the site, and for good measure went to another computer just incase my cookies would be a problem, and same thing happened...

If it helps I can screen shot ALL the screens that involve the databases on my hosting and the app, but I rather not throw them here for the world to see, maybe under priviate message as opposed to public? Do you think that will help?
Also, I am leaving work soon so I will not be back to answer today. I hope to be back tomarrow, if not for sure on Saturday
Thanks Lauren. You are welcome to turn this thread 'Private' and post the additional screenshots you refer to. The Incomedia support team will review the thread and get back to you, usually within 24/48 hours Mon-Fri.
My gut instinct is that your database settings are actually correct, given the 'Pass' result from the online control panel. The reason for my delay in replying was that I have discovered (much to my surprise) that one of my own projects which I use for testing purposes is also throwing this identical 'database connection error' ("Connection error: it is not possible to complete the operation") - I have been trying to find a reason for this, but so far have been unsuccessful in tracking it down. I should add that this test project has had a working database connection with stock control operating perfectly, etc. until I discovered otherwise whilst testing on your behalf.
I will mark this thread for the attention of the Incomedia support staff, and will continue to investigate the issue as time permits.
Your patience in the meantime is much appreciated.

because you think my database is OK I will send over the screeshots of the program file later today.
Thank you for your help, I still have many more items to correct/add so I have the patience and time you need

and from the sending side of the shopping cart
Hello Lauren,
The database connection data is the one you received from your hosting provider?
The update button works only tu pudate in the program the quantity you have online of the products. If you need to increase the quantity online you need to update it in the program and then export the project online.
The email has not to be connected to the database to work but it will use the normal function to send emails form the website once you receive an order. The error
[2016-01-08 10:12:54] Could not instantiate mail function.
Means the hosting provider is probably not supporting the email script you have set. You can change email script type in step 4 access management and then export it to test ti to see if then it works.
You will need to find the script which works on your hosting provider according to their server settings.
Many thanks!

The database connection error is the one I got on the website5x program. I have all my products lined up, they all have 0 (+1) in green. on the right hand side I hit the "update" tab then I get the following window pop up (see attachment)
As far as the email goes I found out last night that is a my hosting providers problem (well mine acutally) had a customer open a spam and it massed sent emails.. SMPT was shut down, they cut it back on, I send one message same things happens and the merry-go-round starts... Fun huh? So they are working on the email, I am sure your script for the program works perfectly fine because I have ran it on other sites with no problems

I am not meaning to sound like I am rushing ya'll in any way, but is there a rough time frame I can tell my boss for when the website will be functional? Week? 2 weeks?
Hello Lauren,
After increasing the number of available products you need to export the project online from step 5 so the number of available products is visible online.
The update button is only to download from the website how many products are still available on the website.
Try to export it online after having made the update of the products in the program to see if then it appears correctly online.
Once done check again fi the update function displays still the connection error.
Check also the antivirus / firewall is not blocking the program from connecting online to download the updated quantity.
Many thanks!

What do you mean export? I uploaded the site already a few post back, but the only export I see is to webdisk or export project. If I am suppose to use one of these can you also post a link to the steps
Thank you

I did a search for all things export but only found stuff like exporting to USB or Programs like excell. I have been looking over this whole answer webpage all day. I have been able to answer about 6 questions without asking for help, but this one is my biggest problem. Well the tax thing I could use a hand on, I am sure I saw it somewhere..
Hi Lauren,
As you use a hosting provider I would find it strange that the "Host Name" would be "Localhost".
It is more likely to be an IP address of URL, as most providers have their database on a dedicated server.
Your provider will confirm this.
Regards Barry
Hello Lauren,
I mean to "export to internet". As soon as you increase the quantity you need to export to internet in step 5 so the quantity is updated on the website.
Many thanks!

Hey Barry. I though thought that too but you see when I set up my connection to send my work to the Internet it already has my ip and login information there, anything else I use within the program is considered localhost
claudio, i thought export to Internet and upload to Internet was the same thing. i will look yet again when I get to work.
Auteur
I should know this but I guess I am missing something.. what part is export it to the internet?
Lauren,
Use the address you use to access "PHPmyAdmin".
Regards Barry
Auteur
Barry, I am assuming you were talking about phpmyadmin where the host was? My database connection is fine.. I get passing remarks in the database side of the site. I still tried it, but then got a database error.
Auteur
To clarify (because 30 post down things tend to get lost)
The URL name is correct.
It is .php and not .html
My database is working on my hosting side of the problem- and my phpmyadmin is working (see 26 post up)
The website is live (uploaded) - mulitple times
http://www.publichardware.com/instock.php - so far the shopping cart side of the web5x side looks correct (see 13 and 14 post up) and the avaibilty option per product on the program looks correct. but there is a database error that keeps me from updating/talking to the database. That keeps me from updating how many is in stock so it shows up as outofstock.
What else can I do? or is this a software problem that needs to update?
OK,
Sounds as if I can't help you.

This makes no sense, BUT after my server was switched over to a new/faster one (took a few days... no clue why) my shopping cart started working on the avaiable products. NO CLUE... Marking this thread as correct VIA the last reponse from your team. Thanks guy
