Shopping cart connection to database error  en

Good day to all,

I am setting up a website with a shopping cart and would like to connact it to a database. As I am still testing it, I've put the site in a subfolder:
http://www.hd-sloperij-feelders.nl/12345/

When I check everything at http://www.hd-sloperij-feelders.nl/12345/admin/ all seems okay, it passes all the tests.
But when I try to update the "product list" in Website X5 pro 12, I get a connection error!
When I go to a product page, I see php errors, as you can see here: http://www.hd-sloperij-feelders.nl/12345/accessories.html

When I check phpmyadmin on the server, there are NO tables made by WSX5, so no connection is made.
Mysql 5
PHP 5,5
is installed on the server.

I called the hosting provider and they can't figure out what's wrong.
Email script is working.
Could the problem be that I put the website in a subfolder and not in the root? I want to test it all, before moving everything to the root, as the original website is still running in the root (hd-sloperij-feelders.nl)

Name host: localhost (I also tried ip of the server)
Name database: winkel (I also tried setting up a new database)

I really hope someone can help!
Thank you,
Fedor

Hello Paul,

I finally found the time to work with your pointers. I updated the pages to php format. That took care of that problem.

But I still can't update the database from WITHIN WSX5. When I add products and click on the update button in WSX5, I get the connection error. Very strange. It all updates in the preview.

I used Telnet to check if port 3306 is closed somewhere between local and server.
I changed "localhost" in de database settings to the ip of the server.
I even tried it all on another hosting company.

When I check my database on the server, no tables have been made by WSX5, so there has never been a connection made from WSX5 to the database.

I'm really getting frustrated now, so would like to know what's going on. ;)

Best regards,
Fedor

Hello again Fedor,

You say that you are testing the site in a subfolder...  have you reflected this by setting the correct URL (inclusive of the subfolder) in Step 1 General Settings > General tab > Website Address (URL)?

If this is not set correctly then you will experience database connection errors such as you describe.

Please keep us updated.

Ahhhhhhhhh! Thank you very much! That was just about the only spot I DIDN'T look!

I Actually did add the subfolder in "serverfolder with RW access" on the database adv. settings.

But it works now, great!

Have a nice day!
