Database operations
Auteur : John S.Since version 8, INCOMEDIA has told us, that the database functions would be enhanced in coming versions. Now we have version 13, and not much has happened.
The whole meaning with X5 should be that we - the users - should not have to fiddle too much around in HTML, PHP and Java scripting.
One thing that really bothers me, is that there is a smart way to put data in a table via the mail form BUT -
We need a field that says "logged in username" and maybe another field "IP address". ( the fields should be "show only" )
This way we can store WHO has made the entry and is the correct "owner" of the entry.
THEN the database viewer should have a function :
Select on field : xxxxxx with value : xxxxxxxx ( a value should be ex. $loggedinuser )
( perfect would be the possibility to select on two fields )
What could all this be used for :
Imagine You are responsible for an event. You could have a restricted page where users could put in their registration via the email form. It could be with drop-down choices and all what the mailform are able to.
Then You could have a restricted page where You had the viewer. You had it set up, so that it was selected for only the logged in user.
This way the user can see what events he/she had participated and eventually if the webmaster had allowed that, the data could be edited.
Could also be used for a club where members could maintain their own details, and in another not-editable view, could see all members details.
Hope someone can see the potential in this - all it should take is a new field loggedinuser in the mailform, and the same field as a selection in the viewer.
If someone other than me ( or is it I ? ) think this is a good idea, then please tell.
Kind regards
John
But we have now finally a (half) function.
You took a words from my mouth... GREAT IDEA. I'm sorry that programers don't listen our praise...
