Bon dimanche

Personne pour me venir en aide ?
Hi Philippe,
What exactly do you mean by "no longer working"? Do you perhaps receive any specific error message? Anything you can report here?
After changing the SSD, did you reinstall Windows completely? Or did you clone your SSD so that it should technically be just the same?
Please let me know here with this piece of information so that I might better help you out
Thank you
Stefano

Hi Stefano,
WX5 does not launch anymore. The mouse icon displays “busy animation” a few seconds, and nothing happens. No message at all.
Yes, I only cloned my SSD so that it is technically the same.
Uninstalling and reinstalling WX5 did not change anything.
Thank you for your concern

Hi Philippe,
In situations like this, it's always hard to determine exactly what could have gone wrong. It is possible that some dependency for the software wasn't cloned correctly, or perhaps it needs a proper reinstalling in order to work properly.
Firstly, I'd like to ask you to follow the entire upcoming procedure, in order to restore those. We shall see if we can get the software started again:
.NET
To repair the .NET Frameworks 3.5 and 4 you need as first to use following cleanup tool to remove .NET 4:
http://cid-27e6a35d1a492af7.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Blog_Tools/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip
Once done go to Control Panel then choose Programs and Features and then click on Turn Windows features on or off. Clear the check box for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and then click on OK. After Windows disables the feature you will need to go back to re-enable Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1
This procedure can take some time to deactivate and activate .NET 3.5.1 and once done reinstall .NET 4 after downloading it from following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17718
ALSO
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off
Clear the check box for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and then click on OK. Clear also the check box for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 and then click on OK.
After Windows disables the feature you will need to go back to re-enable Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and 4.6 and then click ok.
C++
Download the Visual C++ 2013 installer available on following link (you need to download the x86 version also if the OS is 64bit):
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784
Also reinstall the following versions:
2010 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555
2012 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679
2015 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145
In case this should not help try to use before this repair tool http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30135 and then try again to start WebSite X5.
After having done all of this, restart your pc.
let me know if it works then
Thank you

Hi Stefano,
None of above tricks changed a bit of my problem.
After cloning process, all my other software do work properly (I have plenty).
I noticed that when reinstalling it from scratch (after full uninstall with Revo uninstaller + tracking registry remnant), WX5 even does not ask for inputing my license code. I suspect WX5 having a crazy licensing checkup protocole...
Best regards
Hi Philippe.
This most surely looks like a dependency issue. Unfortunately though, if after the whole procedure mentioned above the software still won't start, I'm afraid something must be off that is currently not identifiable by us, and was generated by the cloning of the SSD.
At this point, I'm afraid that only a clean reinstall of the System could prove useful to this. It is most probable that something was not copied properly, or the software would definitely work just like it did before.
As a last test, you could try to reinstall the software after deleting everything under C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Incomedia as well, as to complete a full reinstall of the software.
Please let me know if you manage to fix this
Thank you

Hi Stefano,
As I explained above, I already uninstalled (many times now) WX5, deleting with care all registry and folder tracks (even user...). I suspect imRegister.exe to be the root of the problem, because it does not launch at the end of the reinstallation.
I’m very upset, as I can’t update my customers’ websites anymore.

Please, is it possible for me to get in touch with the technical staff?

Hi Philippe,
Unfortunately, if none of the above procedures worked, I'm afraid that something else is definitely wrong after the cloning of the drive. If the software could work alright before and just won't launch after, most probably something got messed up in the process, and at this point I am afraid that we're left with two possibilities:
1_ install the software on a different pc and just use it there
2_ Consider performing a clean install of Window, which is usually a guarantee that the software will be working correctly
It is very difficult to determine what could have gone wrong with the cloning if just after that the software won't start, so I'm afraid that these two are the options left to consider in the end
Let me know what you think
Thank you for your understanding

Hi Stefano,
You may understand this answer is not satisfying for me as a long-time customer.
To my eyes, WX5 is more than a product, it’s a professional Service. Or it should be.
For now, just feeling I’m let down. I’m sure there is a simple solution to this unexpected problem, but can’t figure it out on my own.
Best regards
Phil
Hi Philippe.
I surely understand the frustration of having to resort to these possibilities in order to get the software to work correctly.
Unfortunately, as the Operating System is made up of many different factors which need to be all in place for the entire system to work correctly, it is nearly impossible to be able to determine what could be affecting the functionality of the software after such a process as a clone.
Most surely, a reinstall of the system would fix it, but without direct access to the physical device which the Staff cannot perform, troubleshooting this issue after such a complex operation as cloning is really not viable.
Please keep in mind that should you be in need of any further information about this, feel free to continue the topic here
Thank you for your understanding

Hi,
Problem still remaning, even with the new 17th version
I read other users complain about imRegister.exe being the root of blocking WX5 from launching (in many versions : 9, 11, 13...). Alway the same unefficient solution proposed with repairing .NET Frameworks.
I’m so disappointed and frustrated with this stupid bug and misconsideration of this problem from the staff.
