VAT problem... Help!

Hi all,
I'm about to launch my e-shop - when I stumbled upon a problem which could easily ruin my day.
It's about the VAT calculation.
I'm from the EU and my company has to calculate the VAT when the buyer is a private person.
Hence, when the buyer is a company from the EU and from the other country - the invoice should NOT contain the VAT!
So, the problem is:
how to automatically determine - in a shopping cart - who is a private buyer and who is a company?
In a nutshell:
Private buyer > calculate the VAT
EU Company outside my country > do not calculate VAT.
Thank you in advance for any help!

Hello. As far as I know, there is no possibility in the program to divide customers by type and, based on this type, issue an invoice.

Hi Aleksej,
thank you for your comment!
So, how to handle this problem?
Basically, I have no use of the program if I can not solve this issue...
@ Support
I could not be the only one with this issue.
Your company is from Italy, so using the X5 software you can not sell anything to the other company located in the EU because there is no way for the program to determine that it should - in this case - omit the VAT from the invoicing...
Are you planning to do something about this?
I have bought your software for the sole purpose of making web-shops - but without the optional VAT calculation I have no use of it...
Thanks in advance for replying!
I sent a request to the developers.Expect a response from them.
For now the easiest way is to duplicate shop - one for private buyers with VAT, the second one for companies without VAT and ask buyers to use the right shop depends on their status.
Or instead of language selection on the entry page, make it Private / Company selection?
Hi Sinisa,
thank you for your message.
As suggested, a possible solution would be to create different shops using different projects: on one project you could create the shopping cart for private buyers and on the other the one for the companies. These projects can be then linked using a Level in the menu.
Please let me know if I can be of further help. Kind regards.

Guys thank you so much- these are all valuable workarounds...
...but all this could be solved with a one or two checkbox in the shopping cart and a bit of scripting:
1 - COMPANY (YES/NO)
IF YES THEN GOTO 2.
IF NO THEN VAT=XY%
2 - COMPANY FROM EU (YES/NO)
IF YES THEN VAT=0
IF NO THEN VAT=XY%
------------------------------
For someone who knows coding this could be solved in an hour... with a bit of testing...

@ Elisa,
Thank you for your comment!
Yes, it can be solved like that - but it is a "mountain" of additional work for the thing that could be fixed easily.
Please present my above answer to the developers.
Couple of IF THEN ELSE loops and a bit of testing... and you'll have a very respectful program update.

Elisa, this issue is pretty serious shortage of the program and it should be put on your TO DO list ASAP.
X5 is a professional tool and it should handle things professionally - at least I see things that way...
Thank you in advance!
(It > En) ... in much less than an hour and without codes; ...just a minute to use simple connections to the relative trolleys or sub-carts......
.

Thank you for commenting!
Yes, this is an important update which should be done years ago.
Plus, as you say, it's not something that requiters hours and hours of IT personnel time...
Hopefully, Incomedia will react.
(It > En) ... I don't know if I understood, ... but the connection is the common one already foreseen by the program;
... for example in a page dedicated to this purpose you can enter in
Text object, (or image)
with links;
... an example with test links to my examples:
1 - COMPANY [YES] | [NO]
2 - COMPANY FROM EU [YES] | [NO]
.
ciao

There are workarounds - many of them are mentioned above.
But we need a professional solution - not a workaround!
This problem could be quite annoying when you're trying to explain the client why this cannot be handled like on any other e-shop platforms...
I do hope that Incomedia will fix this - because t's not a lot of work at all.
Cheers!
... OK ...
The same issue with VAT, I am from an India, here we using GST instead of VAT, So I requested and also suggested a simple and possible solution, in the VAT area we need a custom edit access here accoding to our country TAX codes.

@ Srikanth P.
We should "bombard" Incomedia staff to solve this (and other) issues.
I'm planning a series of TO DO posts - starting after the September 2nd.
You could do the same.
More demands - more chance of fixing lapses like this.
A solution where you had to first choose between company/private and then EU/non EU would for a customer/buyer seem to be OK.
This requires that you "behind" the system has more than 2 "sites". Let's say you have 1 site and 3 subsites..
Then the person responsible for maintaining products and prices and so, will have to maintain all X 4.
Try to sell such a solution to a client.
You have to tell him :
Here is the project. You have to buy the X5 software to maintain products and prices. And - by the way - it was not only one project I deliver. I deliver you 4 projects, and you have to maintain the products and prices in all 4 projects.
Or is there a solution to avoid that?????????????????????????

@ John
Yes, that's why we all have "press" Incomeda to fix this (and many other Shopping Cart related stuff.
As I wrote above - I'm going to start a TO DO post which - if supported by the user like you - should produce some results...
+10.... but ....
Changing the payment order for a normal cycle (cart --> validation --> payment --> confirmation) has been asked since 3 years... and we are at same stage today after x versions of WSX5 !!!

Yes, I know that - but maybe the people then were not "stubborn" & persistent enough..? I believe if Incomeda gets dozens and dozens of similar requests - they could take this a bit more seriously...
Frankly, I do not care if they raise the price of the software - IF they fix at least 50% of the stuff posted here in the last 2-3 months... What's the point of having cheap "professional" software if I can not do with it what my clients want?
