How to set up print page to fit  en

Please use this web link as a reference for my question:

https://www.americasbest.com/store-list/university-park-fl-34201?utm_source=gplus&utm_medium=listing&utm_campaign=w2gi

When I went to print this page, it opened up a print preview with commands on top, and the FIT command was selected. Showed you how the page would print without losing any data off the right edge of the page. This was really cool.

How did they do this? Could something like this be done in the Website X5 software? I was in Firefox when viewing this page. I have never seen it before, so I would think that it is something on their website, and not a factor in the Firefox browser.

Can it be done, or set up to be done in future updates? This would be a helpful feature. Seems to be similar to responsive viewport behavior. Maybe that is what they are doing. Setting a print viewport????

Hello John

Are you talking about the fact that the content gets somehow reorganized when printing?

This is done by adding specific codes onto your webpage that tells the print function exactly how to organize the page for printing.

Unfortunately, the software does not generate such codes as of now, and this means that the default print functionality of the browser will attempt to figure it out on its own

As of now, I am afraid that there is no workaround for this except custom code for which the Staff cannot offer support.

I would advise opening up an Idea topic just in case as to keep such request highlighted

Thank you

Stefano

Okay, thanks Stefano. Many of us know how to select "Print to Fit." I was just impressed that this web site did it automatically so the user would not lose any data off the right of the printed page (for those who do not know about print to fit). It does seem like it is a responsive print layout/code, or kind of take the viewport layout for a tablet and print that.

I will present it as an idea, unless you can covert this post into an idea so they have both of our comments.

John, I have changed this thread to an idea.

I too think this would be handy, to date I have always included a link to a pdf of the page where I believe this would be useful to the user eg https://www.esahc.com/000-help.html

(or crafted the page as one object per row to help the browser print function behave)
