Linking Products in Filter to Product Page  en

Currently, it seems from the Shopping Cart: Search section or "Filter" settings, we do not have the option to link any products to another page; for example: The main product page that tells you more about the product.

It will be a great idea for this to be implemented, as customers tend to click the picture of the product in the filter to view more information for the product, which cannot all be explained fully from the filtered view.

This is possible at the moment.

You can also use html in the product description.

Example : <p><a href="https://www.w3schools.com/">Visit W3Schools.com!</a></p>

For the search results:

The user clicks search results for the products.

In the list there can be different behaviuors :

- If you specify no link for the product, then clicking the image will show a bigger version of the image and with the text for the product. If you via html have made a link in the product text, then it will be shown as a clickable text.

- if you specify a link for the product, then clicking the image will bring you to the link.

Hi Emmanuel,

as John reported, you can set a link as he showed on his screenshot: did you mean that?

Thanks! Kind regards.

Hi Elisa, thanks you for your response. I tried setting a link last night which worked but is not good for design as this link appears on the product page as well, which then leads you to the same product page. This only confuses the customer.

So it will will be a good idea for a future update to link a product page by clicking on any photo in Filter

Hi, sorry for my English but I'm Italian ...
Strange that it doesn't work for you. In STEP 1 Settings / Advanced / e-commerce cart / Products double click on each product and under "Link", you must set a different page for each product as John has indicated. Then you have to go to STEP 3 Pages, you have to search in the Special Pages at the bottom for the "Shopping Cart: Search" page, you have to select it and click on the "Edit" icon at the top right. Go to "Settings" and enable the item "Activate link on image".

The link will work for any image in Website X5's "Filter Search". The "Activate link on image" item must also be activated in the "Product Catalog Objects" that you may have inserted in the pages of your project so the link will also be active on all products in general and not only on the products of the Search with Filters
Look at my online template, try clicking on the photos of each product both on the various pages of the template and on the "Search page":

Hello Giuseppe,

Thanks for thoroughly explaining the steps I should take and I am sorry for the late reply, but it seems I am still having the same issues.

Please view the pictures below:

"Shopping Cart: Search" page

Product Catalog Object

I've uploaded the changes and still it shows the showbox instead of going to the product page that I linked it to as shown below:

Is there any other object I need for this to work and does anyone else have any further suggestions? I do appreciate your assistance and I thank you all in advance.

You should check the link settings - how is it specified to open?

Be aware that the default behaviour for opening is in the showbox. It should be set to "same window" or "new window".

Hello John. It was set to "same window." I changed it to "new window" but the showbox still pops up when I upload the changes.

Not sure if an Incomedia staff could also assist with troubleshooting as I have followed all the steps as shown above and it still would not work.

Emmanuel, everything you set up is perfect except for one thing:

- in Special Page "Shopping Cart: search" and in "Product Catalog Object" you MUST DISABLE the checkbox relating to the showbox (see screenshot), if this item remains enabled you will always see the enlargement of the image in the showbow and you will not see the product details page set with link in "Setting 1 / Shopping Cart / product settings".

P.S. Unfortunately this procedure is not very intuitive, this has already been reported in the past to Incomedia and if a user does not have much experience, it is difficult to understand how to set the opening of the product description page instead of the showbox with enlarged photo.
