Attaching a domain name.  en

I am interested in your shadow domain name option with the new version of EVO that I have. I currrently operate my own private domain with it's own name, terrysfixitservice.com. I also have DDNS with a provider with a DDNS address of terrysfixitservice.ddns.net. My private domain has it's own servers with DNS, a certificate authority server plus other things. Is it possible to use this domain name for my website that have hosted on your system? If not, is it possible to change the name of the website from 527.websitex5.me to something akin to the title of the actual website, such as Crann Bethadh.websitex5.me? Your help article isn't real clear on these questions. Thank you.

i watched the video and read the article but it talks about if you have a website posted on another hosting platform and how to transfer that over. I don't have a website on another hosting service. I just have my website on WebsiteX5 platform. I do have Microsoft web servers set up but I am no longer using them for now. Regulatory issues with my ISP. Maybe I should move in a different direction. Can I change the current website address of 527.websitex5.me to crann_bethadh.websitex5.me without incurring issues with the hosting platform?

"i watched the video and read the article but it talks about if you have a website posted on another hosting platform and how to transfer that over. " - I am surprised by your answer. In the article and in the video from 00:03:35 to 00:04:30 you can learn how to use your own personal domain for your site hosted by X5.

"Can I change the current website address of 527.websitex5.me to crann_bethadh.websitex5.me without incurring issues with the hosting platform?" - no.But you can use your own domain.

For example, this is what I did.

I looked at your screen shot and I think you are misunderstanding me. I have never mounted a website on another hosting service, Just yours. There is nothing to transfer over. I have an Linux Apache web server that I did mount the x5 website on but I could not secure it with https due to mfg. server hardware/admin issues. I have the ability to mount this website using https to one of my Microsoft web servers but I wish to take advantage of your service with my license. I have thought about this today and I am wondering maybe I should just pull the website from your hosting platform and reinstall it under a different 2nd level domain name website of my own creation? I would like to advertise this website under a more search friendly domain name other than 527. Please advise.

If you want to host a site on X5 hosting but with your domain, then you need to do it as it is written in the instructions and shown in the video.

If you want to host a site on X5 hosting and change the domain "527.websitex5.me" to "crannbethadh.websitex5.me" then it's not possible.

If you want to host a site on your hosting and use your name, then you can do it.

You cannot use the ".websitex5.me" domain (subdomain) on your hosting.

I recommend trying hosting your site on X5 hosting and connecting your domain name instead "527.websitex5.me". To do this, just upload the site to X5 hosting and then do as in the instructions or video.

I tried to set this up this weekend and I am back to square one. I do not have a website registrar as alluded to here in this thread. I have a Microsoft webserver set up with my own DNS server and network addressing. There is no website on it anymore. Is there any way to transfer my network domain name to your webhosting service? This is not a web hosting service, such as Go Daddy or yours for that matter. Please advise yes or no. If not, I will see about pulling the web site off of your server and reloading it under a different 2nd level domain name. If I can't do that either then I will try to come up with something else.

Thank you. I am sorry to be such a bother. I should have thought of all of this when I set this up on your web hosting platform the first time I uploaded the web site. I didn't understand that much about SEO's until after the fact.

Hello Terrance

If I understand correctly, the server you're currently using isn't something that is reachable remotely, is that correct?

In order for you to be able to link a domain to our hosting provider, you need to own an actual domain that was provided by a domain provider online and linked to your webspace. If this is not the kind of domain you have, it is not possible to link it to our hosting. You will need to purchase a different domain instead, and you can do this straight from your Hosting panel in your profile here on the Help Center

Please take a look at this and let me know if it helped

Thank you

Stefano

My domain can be reached remotely via a dynamic DNS service address at terrysfixitservice.ddns.net and I have installed a website before on my own Apache web server but I couldn't secure it due to mfg. certificate issues. That being said, maybe you are correct, your service may not work with mine. Please confirm and I will look into other option, such as setting up a new domain with you. Thank you

Hello Terrance

Yes, that is correct, such a method will not work in our case. You need to purchase a "standard" domain in order to link it to our Hosting space.

If you want, you can do so directly from our Hosting panel in your Help Center Profile. Should you require assistance on this, let me know here and I will be glad to help sort this out

Thank you

Stefano

Quick question. If I set up a domain with your service, will I need to redo all of my Iubenda privacy certifications to reflect the new name?
