Deleted page url still live  en

I recently removed a page on our website, something I have done a few times before. On this occasion I happened to have the page open in my browser and so refreshed the page to ensure the deletion had worked, however the page was, and still is, 'live'. I've tried two laptops and different browsers and also sent the url to a friend who confirmed she can still view it.

The link to it doesn't show on the homepage but I'm concerned that anybody who has bookmarked that specific page rather than the homepage might think the item is still available.

I have tried uploading the whole site again but this made no difference.

Can anybody advise what I need to do to ensure the page is properly deleted, please?

Thank you.

Do you mean the page you deleted in the project? Since WebsiteX5 does not delete anything on the server itself, you have to take action yourself. It's best if you go to step 5, select 'Export to the Internet' and click on the folder button next to the target directory and you're on your server. There you can delete the page.

Since I have been caught out in the past, I have taken to removing all content from the page and uploading it as empty (or with an explanation) before deletion from project.

Esahc, this is very user-friendly because it avoids queries and trouble...

Thank you for that information. I hadn't realised that the software didn't delete pages since it does upload any amendments or new pages. Is this contained within your help pages/ guides? I did try searching before posting this question but couldn't find anything.

Sue, even in the old days before the likes of WX5 it was necessary to manually delete pages no longer required or wanted. An option to synchonise folders would be a nice touch.

I do now recall that but I think I was just expecting too much of the interface. Live and learn.

Thanks for the responses and assistance!
