Transfer custom domain to new Pro web space  en

Auteur : Terrance O.

As per the instructions given by Eric in an email, I have set up and transferred the project files (minus a few blog posts from June and July) to the new Pro platform. I was instructed to also activate my new web space, which I have. I replied via email to Eric that all was in readiness to transfer my custom domain that is set up on the older EVO web space to the new Pro.

Is there anything else I need to do to facilitate the transfer of my custom domain, 'crann-na-beatha.com' to my new Pro web space? I do know that this does take some time for the world-wide DNS servers to pick this up but how do I know if this transfer has even been initiated? I have blog updates pending upload as I wait for this to take place.

The Incomedia employees will probably only be online again on Monday during office hours in Italy.

Thank you. I suppose I can just upload to the current automatically assigned domain name for now. My old EVO webspace is still active. Maybe I will add to the blog on both of them just this once until they can effect the transfer. My visitors are going to be looking for my custom domain name wherever it is pointing to.

Hello Terrance,
I was waiting for a reply on the activation status of the Pro hosting, which I can now see is active.
Please go ahead with a backup of any e-mails you need to keep in your current @crann-na-beatha.com address, as you will need to recreate it on the new hosting space, in the meantime I will start the process.
Let me know when you have saved the necessary e-mails.

I am recieving this error and I believe it points to a mislabled folder on your server? I am not sure how to manage that, although I will be checking my previous EVO setup for clues. Please advise as I am now unable to upload my website to your hosting server until this error is resolved.

Hello Terrance,
what appears when hovering on the exclamation mark?
From what I can see however, some minutes after this post you were able to export the website, is any issue still ongoing?

Update. I said no when the error message asked me if I wanted to change the URL and/or destination folder for the initial website upload and everything went through to your hosting server. When attempting to access the website for proof of a successful upload, I recieved a certificate error. When accessing the site through my normal browser, it all looks good. I would like to keep this message thread open for 24 hours to make sure all of the DNS servers catch up with the new parameters from this domain change. Despite my efforts, I did lose some emails in the switch over but they were not life changing. I will see if I can retrieve some of them later from the source.

Update to the update. I am now recieving certificate mismatch errors when attempting to access the site through my rss feeder. The certificate error states that the site has a certificate assigned under the old custom domain that you just transferred over, yet the system is showing the URL as the original Incomedia default domain URL name. I assume this is because of the delay in all of the network DNS servers that haven't had their databases updated with the new domain name change? Please confirm.

Hi Terrance,

this could indeed be due to the DNS, do you still have issues now?

Thanks! Kind regards.

I know this is a bit late but I am still having issues. Whenever I use the Pro platform to update social media, it sends me to the default URL from Incomedia, not the custom domain. Whenever I send an update to the website host server, it asks me if i want to update the URL name (see enlosed screenshot). Is there something I need to set on my end to correct this?

I have my web space at Hosteurope and several domains there. I append the path details of the domains to the destination folder.

-----

Destination folder: /myserverpath/mydomain (without endings like .com .de etc.)

-----

However, I have no experience with the inclusive web space of WebSiteX5.

Hello,
regarding the warning in your screenshot if you select "No" you can go ahead and export, please send me a copy of the project at its latest version and I can check some of the project's files.
You can export it in Step 5 - Export, choosing the Export the project option to generate an IWZIP file.
You can then upload the file with https://www.swisstransfer.com/ or similar services, and provide a download link at sales @ incomedia.eu (without the spaces).

Could you clarify what you mean by "Whenever I use the Pro platform to update social media, it sends me to the default URL from Incomedia, not the custom domain"?

I will endeavor to send you a copy of the files. In the meantime, let me try and answer your questions. I didn't have this error when I was using the website files on EVO. This didn't occur until you transferred my custom domain over to my Pro default domain. I can pull up my website just fine with no certificate or domain mismatch errors when using my browsers, Chrome or Edge. Only when I try to pull it up through the Incomedia Pro platform. So you may be onto something in that there may be some files somewhere that need to be adjusted.

I used Swiss Transfer to send the files requested to ***. I don't understand what you are asking for when you are asking about a 'download link' at the address given. Let me know if I need to resend them to somewhere else.

Hello Terrance,
I received the SwissTransfer, I mentioned the download link because by default the option selected is to generate a download link, but of course using the Email option also works fine.
I will be examining the project as soon as possible.

Hello Terrance,
as soon as the upload to SwissTransfer ends, I will reply to your e-mail with another download link, could you please import that version of the project and check if the warning appears?
