Withdrawal button... Incomedia?  en

Our beloved EU requires that every EU shop has the following:

"Withdrawal button required for online shops from June 2026
From June 19, 2026, the EU Directive 2023/2673 requires online shops to offer a clearly visible withdrawal button, making contract cancellations as simple as placing an order. The requirement also applies to customer portals, comparison platforms and financial services.

In Germany, non-compliance can lead to fines of up to €50,000 or 4% of annual turnover. Other member states may set different penalties.

If you run an e-commerce site or online service, now is a good time to review your checkout flow and overall compliance setup."

So, Incomedia, does the WSX5 shop have what they are asking for already built in?

Hello Sinisa,
to confirm, by withdrawal are you referring to initiating a refund process for an order?
At the moment this is not available as an automated feature, I will report about this directive to consider improvements.

If Incomedia doesn't build a function for this into WebSite X5, then that shouldn't be a problem.

Apparently the shop operator has to put a button or clearly visible link on his shop website that leads to a page with a contact form that asks for some customer data, see

----- (Excerpt from a German website, translated with Google) -----

...

What information can and must I request from the customer?

The legislature has set clear requirements regarding the data that may be requested in the cancellation form. According to the principle of data minimization, only the following information may be requested from the consumer in order to be able to clearly assign the revocation to the respective contract:

  • The name of the consumer,
  • Information identifying the contract from which the consumer wishes to withdraw (e.g. order number, order number or contract number),
  • Information about the electronic means of communication with which the confirmation of receipt of the revocation will be sent to the consumer (usually by email).

@ Eric

I don't know—I'm not a tick from the EU bureaucracy that requires this.

If I read the information correctly, it seems to me that the customer must be able to cancel the purchase/ordering process at any time.

What Daniel wrote above is, as far as I can tell, an option to direct the customer to a contact form to collect some data.

In my opinion, this is not what is required by that directive.

Hello Sinisa,
depending on the specifics of the directive in question, what Daniel suggested should be applicable here, as long as the button directing the user towards the Contact Form dedicated for refunds is made clearly available on the website's pages.
We will check if this directive has some specific guidelines about the characteristics that the button in question should have.

Maybe Incomedia will build something special for the cancellation button in WebSiteX5, otherwise the shop operator will have to do it manually.

Further information in German on the topic can be found here

If I understood it correctly as a non-lawyer, then there should be these things on the website or shop:

   1) Clearly visible cancellation button or link to a contact form, see 2)

   2) Contact form with the corresponding input fields and a note in the confirmation email, see 3)

   3) In the confirmation email there is a note that no revocation has yet taken place,

but that this will be done in another email after checking

There is still some time until June 2026 and by then it should hopefully be clear how to implement the cancellation button in WebSite X5.
