Restoring my data.  en

I accidentally deleted my website files in my local PC. However before that happened I was able to publish the website to my hosting account. Using an ftp client, will I be able to download the directory structure back to my PC to be re-used in Website X5?

I am not sure you can :-(

I have certainly edited pages in my project using dreamweaver so youmight be able to reconstruct the pages of the project and cut and past in the html once you have ftp'd the pages down to your own computer.

The only other answer I can think of is to open your website in a browser and cut and paste into a new project.

Other than that - cam you restore the deleted files on your PC?

Some one may come along with a better answer I hope.

Good luck,

Duncan

Hello Anton,

There is a backup folder (named 'Backup') located within your main project folder (default path is C://Users/user_name/Documents/Incomedia/WebSite X5 v10 - Evolution/project name/ on a standard install)

Unless you have also deleted this folder by accident then you should find a number of backup .iwprj files in there which you can use to restore your project.

It might also be worth searching your hard drive for files with extension .iwprj or .iwzip just in case you saved or exported your project to a different location at some point.  Worth a quick search as it may save time rebuilding the whole thing, even if the files are weeks or months old?

Best regards,

Paul

Does this also apply to version 9?

Yes, partly.  In version 9 there will be only one backup file and it will be in the project folder itself (instead of a subfolder called 'Backup')  -  the file in question is backup.iwprj

Hope you find it!

Paul

My bad. I really can't find it anywhere.

Is it now such that I can't edit the site anymore with Website X5? If otherwise, can you tell me how?

Just worth one more mention. Have you checked your recycle bin?

Yes, Duncan. How unfortunate. Now I'm starting to wish the project file is uploaded to the server everytime I publish.

You could do that - though it would have to be manual FTP as far as I can see.

Sorry for your problems. But we have all doen the same :-(
