Chrome related issue with Google Ads  en

Auteur : Nigel W.

Google Ads will show a blank colour of personal choice when websiteX5 project pages are previewed in Internet Explorer.

As CHROME is WebsiteX5's recommended preview browser, these "blanks" are not shown in preview...just a blank space.

Is there a workaround for this...without having to use Internet Explorer?

Thanks,

Nigel

Hello Nigel,

Do you refer to the internal WebSite X5 browser or to the standalone Chrome?

If it's the standalone Chrome check to not have any add blocking plugin.

For the preview browser of the program it can take longer to load external codes and this can be the reason it is not loaded.

Many thanks!

Hi Claudio...

I refer to the internal Website X5 browser.

My ads show up fine on the external Chrome browser.

Its more a nuisance as I can't always judge whether I've spaced the ads correctly/neatly.

This was never a problem when the internal browser was Internet Explorer.

(I've just now had a preview window up for SIX minutes....no change)

Thanks.

Hello Nigel,

It seems the ads are not shown because the project is not online and it is not depending on the browser used. Probably google blocks them since the website files are loaded from your pc and not inside the hosting.

In this case it is necessary to set in the html object the height which is declared in the ads settings so you will know how much space will be used.

Many thanks!

Right...I'll take it up with Google. The ads are designed so that a coloured block should appear in Preview, in place of the ad, for the very purpose of design.

This system works perfectly well when the Preview browser used to be Internet Explorer.

I'll leave this open.

Hi there Claudio.

This is what I do but I have tried to find the Google explanation and it states this:

"Due to new security measures introduced in the latest versions of Firefox and Chrome, some rich media ads are showing as blank in the Ad review centre for publishers using these browsers. While this doesn’t affect the allow and block functionality of the Ad review centre, it does mean that currently:

  • You can only see a screenshot of these ads in the “tiled” view.
  • You can’t see a preview of these ads in the “one by one” view.

Specifically, this issue relates to the following versions of Firefox and Chrome:

  • Firefox version 23.0 and higher
  • Chrome version 30 and higher

Note that if you’re using an older version of either of these browsers, you won’t be affected by this issue.

We are currently investigating potential fixes for this issue."

Can you see any way of my getting round this?

Thanks,

Nigel

Hello Nigel,

Unfortunately there is no way to get around this. It is necessary to to wait until it has been fixed directly by google since this depends on the code used by google which is blocked by the browsers.

Many thanks!
