Jssor slideshow OK in preview, but displays as blank space on publication  en

I am using X5 evolution v 2019.2.7 and have updated the free JSSOR slider to version 12 (Marketplace says latest is 13, but on download I always get 12).

If I create an autoplay slideshow with JSSOR slider it works as expected when viewed via the program's "preview" function.

However, when I publish the website to the web (or to a local folder) and view it in a browser (I have tried several), the slideshow appears as a blank space.

The same problem was reported by others in early 2019. I read that it has been solved by updates - but it still doesn't work for me.

Any suggestions?

I've found the page you refer to, Richard:

https://market.websitex5.com/en/objects/slideshow

...which does indeed show version 13 as the current version of Jssor Slider.

So I'm going to ask Incomedia to look at this, because it's either a minor typo, or more importantly there is the possibility that the link in the actual WebSite X5 software points to an older version of the Object.

Please keep monitoring the thread for updates.

Many thanks for your prompt answer, Paul.

I cannot readily provide a link to the faulty webpage, since the site is live, and whenever I see an error in the published website I must promptly replace it with an earlier fault-free version (created with evo 17.0.8).

As you suggest, I shall continue to monitor the thread for updates concerning the current version of Jssor.

Hello Paul,

You asked me to provide a link to the faulty webpage to assist your investigation. I have now published a version of my site within which I have created a special page entitled "jssortest". This page is supposed to auto-display a sequence of 4 slides (and does so when previewed from the X5 program evo 2019.2.7), but (as explained earlier) it displays a blank space when published.

Here is a link to that page: http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/jssortest.html

I hope this will help you to analyse my problem.

Hallo Richard,

so sieht bei dir dein Pfad zu den Bildern aus:

<divdata-u="slides" style="cursor: move; position: absolute; overflow: hidden; left: 0px; top: 0px; width: 1140px; height: 411.6502845318px;"><div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/GroupShort.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/GroupShort.jpg">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/GroupShort.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div><div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/SuePic1short1933.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div><div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/ProceduresShort.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/ProceduresShort.jpg">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/ProceduresShort.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div><div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/Radcliffe1920short.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/Radcliffe1920short.jpg">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/Radcliffe1920short.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div>

Hier bezieht sich die Pfadangabe auf localhost ????? was eigentlich nicht richtig ist.

So lange es auf deinem PC ist mag es funktionieren da dieser als Localhost fungiert.

Ändere mal den Pfad in:

<divdata-u="slides" style="cursor: move; position: absolute; overflow: hidden; left: 0px; top: 0px; width: 1140px; height: 411.6502845318px;"> <div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/GroupShort.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div> <div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/SuePic1short1933.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/SuePic1short1933.jpg">http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/SuePic1short1933.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div> <div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/ProceduresShort.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/ProceduresShort.jpg">http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/ProceduresShort.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div> <div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/Radcliffe1920short.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/Radcliffe1920short.jpg">http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/Radcliffe1920short.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div>

Hello Richard,

this is how your path to the pictures looks like:

<divdata-u="slides" style="cursor: move; position: absolute; overflow: hidden; left: 0px; top: 0px; width: 1140px; height: 411.6502845318px;"><div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/GroupShort.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/GroupShort.jpg">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/GroupShort.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div><div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/SuePic1short1933.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div><div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/ProceduresShort.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/ProceduresShort.jpg">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/ProceduresShort.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div><div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/Radcliffe1920short.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/Radcliffe1920short.jpg">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/Radcliffe1920short.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div>

Here the path refers to localhost ????? which is not right.

As long as it's on your PC, it may work as it acts as a localhost.

Change the path in:

<divdata-u="slides" style="cursor: move; position: absolute; overflow: hidden; left: 0px; top: 0px; width: 1140px; height: 411.6502845318px;"> <div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/GroupShort.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div> <div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/SuePic1short1933.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/SuePic1short1933.jpg">http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/SuePic1short1933.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div> <div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/ProceduresShort.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/ProceduresShort.jpg">http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/ProceduresShort.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div> <div><imgdata-u="image" alt="" src="http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/Radcliffe1920short.jpg" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://localhost/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/Radcliffe1920short.jpg">http://http://www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk/pluginAppObj/pluginAppObj_34_01/Radcliffe1920short.jpg" style="width: 1140px;" /></div>

Richard, I created a new blank project with only one object (jssor slider) and 3 images.

Preview works fine

Save to disk (& I assume web) and the images are broken (missing) when opened in any browser.

I have attached the test project.

For what it's worth, when opened in pro exactly the same thing happens. However, if an alternative browser is chosen from preview then it displays correctly.

How do you export your site to the server, Richard?  Do you use the built-in FTP client in Step 5 of WebSite X5, or do you use another method?

(It > En) ... in the project activate Ctrl + Preview, and then carry out Complete Export to NETWORK at Step_5;

Thanks to those who have commented.

In answer to Paul's question, my method of exporting the site to the server (Godaddy) is as follows. At step 5, export to disc, and specify a local destination on my computer. Then compress the resultant folder to a zip file. Upload the zip file to Godaddy using their Control Panel, extract the files, and move them to the server's public_html folder.

However, I doubt that the problem has to do with the upload to the server, since it is already there in the local folder created on my computer when I export to disc in step 5. if I open the local uncompressed folder on my computer and then open the jssortest.html file with a browser, there is a blank space where the slideshow should appear.

Agreed Richard. If you simply export to a folder on the HD it should just work. Everything else in wx5 does.

Thank you MCMASTER for your analysis of the code. If I have understood correctly, you are suggesting that a possible solution would be to manually change the code to identify the correct location of the pictures. However, I would expect the X5 program and the Jssor object to take care of this automatically.

I believe this is why it is not working.

In Step 5 Export to disk, what do you have entered in the following field?

Hi Paul,

Yes, it seems you have identified my problem

I was leaving the URL field blank on export. I had overlooked this point since it was not required in version X5 evo 17.0.8 which I was using previously. (I note that in that version the URL had already been entered at Step 1, Settings.)

I have therefore now inserted the URL at Step 5, exported to disk, and uploaded to the server - and everything is working as expected.

So many thanks for resolving my problem.

(There remains the outstanding question as to why the program indicates that the latest version of Jssor slider is v12, whereas the separate marketplace website suggests that it is v13. I shall leave this thread open a little longer, in case we get a precise answer to that.)

Hi Elisa,

Sorry for my delay in replying. I did update the object list as you suggested, and, as far as I can tell, the result is JSSOR version 12. This is not in itself a problem, because my original problem is solved (see discussion with Paul M. above - I was not exporting to disc correctly). However, it seems odd that if I go directly to the X5 Marketplace site, it says there that the latest version of JSSOR slider is version 13.

It is odd, Richard.  I can see exactly what you are referring to here, and confirm that I am experiencing the same.  It's possibly a typo on the Marketplace site.  I'm sure Elisa will confirm one way or the other.

Hi Richard,

I have done a deeper check and I can confirm that the latest version of Jssor Slider is v12, not v.13. I have reported the issue, so we can fix the information on the Marketplace.

Thanks! Kind regards.
