Can you use the Shopping Cart to make an order that can then be sent via email?  en

Hello

I have been requested by a client as to whether I could do a Shopping cart for here that just sets up an order  form that can be sent to them by email please?

The idea is that they will have hundreds of products which clients can look to purchase at anytime where they have the item, the choice of various sizes, and the choice of colours they can choose then add those they want to one order that can then be emailed to my client, who would then advise them direct of the postage and the account to which payment is to be made before the items are posted. They do not want to use the online payment system.

Has anyone done something like this or can you just delete the shipping options and payment options on the Order Management page.

Lool forward to your thoughts and ideas.

Regards
Ross

Hello Ross,
if the only purpose of the website would be to send the list of products, and no option to place an actual order is intended to be available, you could choose to remove the shipping and payment methods, and adjust the texts in the final step of an order and in the notification e-mail sent to the customer accordingly, to reflect the fact that they are only sending the list of products that they would be interested in purchasing, rather than actually placing an order.

Thanks Eric

Yes, I thought of that option, which I tried on a trial website. It looks like it still sends the customer an order confirmation, which I would imagine would not be a problem. Then when the website owner replies to the customer's email, they can confirm availability and account number for payment.

Really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

Ross.

Kind regards

Hello Eric

In this case a good thing should be to add products into a whishlist and to have an option to send this whishlit by email

But actually email sending is not available into this whishlist

abthermal.com works like that - customer selects items, provides address, picks payment and shipping method, but does not pay for order. We get an email to process order. Works but not the best customer experience.

X5 does not have a sophisticated shipping option so for us with thousands of products and weights and package size it is too much to handle and be correct. One day maybe X5 will have that, but not now. By comparison we use CS-Cart on another site whoch handles all the shipping options perfectly as it has an API that connects to UPS and Fedex.

Thankyou Adrian.

Very interesting, I may just take a look at that and see if something like that works if my client chooses to go ahead with a shopping cart system.

Kind regards, Ross
