Video HTLM5 MP4 plug in problem  en

Dear Claudio

 I have recently bought X5 Professional v/10 but I seem not to be able to solve this video plug in problem by getting the message: "Your browser must support htlm5 or Adobe Flash".

 I have tried to do nearly everything now for 3-4 days but without any succes.

 I have installed the the setup file in cromes extensionspage. It shows correctly as installed with the WMP logo and text as: "wmp extension for HTLM5 - 1.0. It is also activated and a test in crome shows that i function ok. I have uninstalled x5 pro and reinstalled the program. I have also copied the dll file to the where the x5 Pro is installed.

When being in the X5 program and try to see the page and MP4 file at the right corner either in crome og explorer it will show and run the file with no problem in explorer but not in crome.

 I just cannot get it to funtion in the X5 Pro. Please, please help me. 3-4 days is felt as very heavy because I was looking forward very happy and hopefull in doing websites instead of being stocked whith this problem. Please, Claudio!!!

Hello Preben,

The error message you are getting relates to Adobe Flash.  The Adobe Flash plugin is a different plugin to the Windows Media Player plugin.  It is the Flash plugin which you need to ensure is operating correctly in this particular instance.

If you wish to view Flash related content in the X5 preview then you also need to install the plugin within the X5 preview browser itself, as it uses a different browser engine to your main Chrome browser.

Dear Paul,

I am so very much happe for your replay which gives me a hope for getting this problem solved at some time.

I enclese 2 clips showing that adobe.com confirm that flash player is installed and works ok in Explorer. The other clip shows that using the surgestion in y first link by putting "chrome:plugins" in the address field. I activated flash player and a few other. Unfortenedly I am still not succeeding in getting the problem solved in X5 Pro

Hello Preben,

So if I understand correctly then the problem is that you can't view the media file in the X5 preview browser...  but you can in Internet Explorer and Google Chrome?

If that is the case then you need to install the Flash plugin for Chromium in the X5 preview browser itself.  In other words you need to copy and paste the following link directly into the preview browser address bar within X5 itself:

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer

Hello Paul,

I must admit that I am pritty close to give up.

1) Chock flash object is activated and for both 32 and 64 bit

2) The enclosed file shows 3 black video windows. The two MP4 videos on the out site can not be played insite X5. The one avi video clip in the middle can be played. If I am going to see the preview on explorer online the result is that I can play the two outsite mp4 files but not the avi file in the middle.

Trying to sent the preview to chrome online I am able to play the middle AVI file but the two  MP4 on the outsite just buffering constantly.

The two link you sent me dit not help me through. It might be me but I have read and read on the forum and more or less understand what is written. But getting it to work......

Please Paul. This will be the first time for many years that I have to give up. I defenitly do not hope this is how I end.

Any Ideas, Paul?

Don't give up...  we'll get there.

Can you confirm that you pasted the Adobe Flash link directly into the preview browser, and followed all onscreen instructions?  Here is another link which you can paste into the preview:

Once you have followed all instructions to install the plugin, it's then very important that you close the preview browser before testing.  In fact, even better would be to close WebSite X5 completely and restart it.

Can you be a little more specific as to just exactly where in the process things are going wrong for you?

PS: can you also tell me what codecs you have used to encode the MP4 files?

It's best to use H.264 for the video and AAC for the audio...  anything else might be compounding your problem.  If necessary try and convert the file into an MP4 with H.264/AAC

Hello Paul M. (sorry for beeing away in the week end)

Thanks for answers. If I install Adobe flash player in Chrome and closes everything down and do a restart I get some results as:

1) In X5 preview two MP4 videofiles buffers very quickly and works very satisfied. A third one will only give me sound.

2) When I try to see the 3 video files in Explorer all three files now works completely ok.

3) If I try to see the 3 video files in Chrome none of the files will work meaning to say it just constantly shows as buffering where as nothing happens.

4) I have - by the way - in this case choosen the files to be seen as windows media player files.

Did you receive my last post? Have I said or done anything wrong. Is there any answers I did not revert with, please.

Is it possible for you to be a little more specific about your suggestion of converting to MP4 with H.264/AAC, please? Can I do anything to show you my files? I just don`t understand why I only see the files "buffering" with no picture or sound in Chrome preview?

Hello Preben,

The fact that you are running Windows 8 64-bit shouldn't be a problem.  WebSite X5 is compatible with that operating system.

Can you confirm by reply that you have definitely installed the plugins in the preview browser, by pasting the links into the address bar?

Be aware that you need to install both the Adobe Flash plugin and the Windows Media Player plugin in the X5 preview browser, if you wish to be able to view these media files in the preview.  Installing the plugins in your main browser(s) will not enable you to view these files in the preview.

If you have installed both plugins successfully and are still experiencing issues then the problem is almost certainly codec related.  The official recommendation from Incomedia is to encode multimedia files to MP4/M4A format for greatest compatibility across end user devices.  This is what I do personally and it works flawlessly.  Correct operation cannot be guaranteed if you use media formats other than the ones Incomedia suggest in the following help file:

You can use a media converter software to convert any existing media files into MP4 format with H.264 video encoding and AAC audio encoding.  The one I use myself is this one:
