Old gallery files remains after deleting the page

Hello,
I have a question regarding old files.
More exactly I have used a hidden page on the website and in that hidden page I have used a gallery made up of aprox 200-300 pictures.
I have deleted the hidden page, and with that page the gallery that was inside as well.
Now each time I save the same project (even if I used a different path), in the gallary I manage to find the old 200-300 photos that I know that I have already delete.
How can I have in the gallary only the valid picture of the website, without the old ones?
Regards,
Cristi

One solution that has worked for some is to open your project, go to step 5, export project (do not include backups or preview) and create an iwzip. Now open WX5 and import the iwzip (this will not overwrite your existing project). This new project will hopefully not include the orphaned images.
This is a long and festering sore. In this first post the user Tim K claims to have fixed his problem by manually removing the (renamed) images.

also https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/de/post/241476
older example https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/de/post/25486
There is another post (I cannot locate it sorry) that suggests that if you had first deleted every image in the gallery, then deleted the gallery before deleting the page then the orphaned images would not have been left in the project to continually re-surface. Sadly we all have 20/20 hindsight.
On December 9, 2017 Incomedia wrote "The developers are working on a function to allow to remove them from the projects." I have marked your post for Incomedia's attention in the hope they can advise on current progress of this functionality.
Big issue with WSX5 !!!! since long time.
Should be nice to fix it because always all old files are always exported too
Long long time !!! to fix issue !!!!

Hello,
I see that it is an old issue, that was not resolved.
I for one noticed that for a relative small site, under 800 files to upload, it has now more than 2300 files.
I'm using Filezilla, I know that I have the option to use the internal Website X5 FTP, but having older files that your site is no longer using them, it is reduntant.

Cristi
Ionescu, if you are using FileZilla you are probably bypassing the built in (dubious) backup. Please visit step 5 export project to create a reliable iwzip backup (add date to keep unique backups)

Hello,
I just save into a new path the project as well with the iwzip and into the website gallery folder I can still find the old photos as well.
So the use of other FPT software it is not relevant in this case.

Good afternoon Ionescu
I can suggest two different ways to approach the issue head on
1_ I can turn the topic private and you will send the project to me. Let me know which images need to be deleted and I will do so for you in your project
2_ You can open two instances of WebSite X5, open your current project and a new one in the two instances and then copy the pages from the current project to the new one. This way, you can quickly move all of your pages and content to the new website without redoing it while still losing all the latent files such as these gallery images
Please do let me know here how you wish to proceed
Thank you
Stefano
Stefano, can we all assume development has stopped and there is / will be no automatic / semi auto means of removing orphaned images?

Hello Stefano,
Thank you for the answer provided.
Can you tell me how to copy the Home page, because it has all the Menu settings (Font/Size) ?
The Home Page can't be deleted.
And I can copy only as normal page.
Regards,
Cristi
@Stefano,
Like said Esahc, does it not possible to provide this option inside the software directly.
If you can do manually it is possibel to configure this one into the code of WSX5.
Since 2017, probably dev team has had enough time to investigate. NO ?
Enjoy!

I see 2 possible reasons why this very annoying issue is still not resolved.
1. INCOMEDIA has stopped further development on the X5. Only some new objects will be made. Some free useful objects. Some useless objects. Some objects that has to be paid for. Some "free" objects that is integration to 3. part. and that has to be paid for by using it.
The things that really needs to be made will never be made. Some few examples:
Navigation in the hamburger - it really su... the way it is now.
The shop made as a real shop. I mean a database solution, where a client can maintain items and prices online.
The orphan images - in old and often edited projects there can be really many..
2. The development team does not know how to do the things.
About the thing with the orphaned images, I then suggest the development team ask here on the forum if anyone know how it can be done. I think we are many that can come up with a solution.
Hi Ionescu,
you can automatically delete all obsolete files using the application WX5 File Manager (https://www.novadys.it/wx5-file-manager-en.html). The trial version is free and works 14 days, so you don't need to spend any additional money. User interface and manual are in english.

@ John,
It is not our job to give the solution.. just for your reminding we have PAID UPDATE PROTECTION for that. nd nothing since 5 yrs !!!!
Or I can offer my services to Incomedia to help them in their dev and how to manage ticketing /priorities, but it is not free service... Like McKinsey
An you are rigth. Easier for them to publish new objects that to fix our issues... it's a shame

@Alessandro,
To be honest I have tested your product few weeks ago... And the job is not really efficiency.
And not very intuitive too.
But may be other users wil find it a great tool. Hope for you.
Sorry
Enjoy!

Hello,
Thank you all for the answers provided.
I can see that it has been back and forth and the solution given (the fix, let's say) involves extra steps, either by involving 3'rd party apps, or make a new project (copy+paste, without the Home Page), eighter way it can't be done in an user friendly way as website x5 has tought us (unfortunatly).
It could be that the issue has a low priority and maybe the users don't use many files (photos - in my case), or like John S mentioned maybe they don't know how to deal with it (I for one I'm a little skeptical about this), because the product overall has a lot of nice and easy to use features, that are developed and integrated correctly.
The solution that I have found is that I will delete the Gallery > extra picures, manually before updating the site online each time I save the project and upload it online.
I will close the thread now.

Cristi
