Why don't animated gif images animate?  en

In both Preview mode in X5 Evolution ver. 10 and even when uploaded to the internet, gif images on my website don't animate. They do animate on my computer, though.

I am attaching the gif image file.

I use Mavericks on my MacBook Pro. What gives?

I am not on the computer with X5 at the moment, but I will check this out later, it is possible that X5 is converting the image to png format eg the first frame of the animation, hopefully their is an option to be able to use the original gif image.

I did some testing Anton and it seems the animated gif file sometimes gets copied with just one frame, so no animation, it did this one time for me so far, when I booted up the computer next time and did some more testing it was working fine and the gif animated correctly, and the file was the same as the original, I am using win 8.1 64bit.

If this becomes to be too much of an intermittent problem, when you have finished your website, upload the original gif file over the top of the existing one in the images folder of your website and it will work, just make sure the filename stays the same.

I am going to be doing more testing on this and if it proves to be too unreliable I will submit a bug report on this particular issue.

It worked, Chris! However I have to do it in two steps, first with Website X5 and then with my ftp client. I'd appreciate a bug report to them from you, for both versions 10 and 11, so the ftp upload will be unnecessary.
