If you check up on my history you will find that I am having to completely rebuild my website from scratch as I cannot access my online website due to a software fault with website X5 Evolution 9.(04/15/2015)

I have recently purchased evolution 11 and in the process a complete rebuild. However, I have a few slide shows that are accompanied with music and although I believe that I am building these pages correctly, none of the music plays - the control bar shows and is set to auto play but there is total silence whatever music file I place there. This fault is in the Preview system and not online as I am unable to upload anything until the whole website is rebuilt. Does evolution 11 has some sort of hidden master switch for sound or do I have another faulty product!

Hello Jo,

What file format is your media slideshow?  e.g. MP4, WMV, AVI, MPG, etc.

WebSite X5 has support for .MP4 and .FLV formats in the built-in preview browser.  Other formats will require the installation of 'plugins' which we can help you with if necessary.

However, it is strongly recommended that media files be converted to MP4 format in any event, for reason of maximum compatibility with end user browsers and devices.

Please see the WebSite X5 help file for full details:

Kind regards,

Paul

Hello Paul,

Thanks for the reply. It was just the sound that I required in order to accompany the X5 gallery/slideshow function. In previous series of X5, I used MP3 files so I have just tried MP4 & FLV formats, both of which didn't work. To cut a long story short, although I checked that the adobe flash thingy was up to date and enabled in chrome, which it was, I decided to down load it again and now all is working as it should!

As regards both the slideshow in the gallery section and the sound, they seem to be on a loop. Is there a way of having them play only once, which I'm sure happened when I initially put up the website using evolution 8.

Kind regards,

Jo.

Glad that it is now working for you, Jo.

If you use the 'Autoplay' feature then both sound and images will loop continuously, unless paused or stopped by manual interaction with the slideshow controls.

Evolution 8 did use an entirely different method of producing slideshows, using Flash technology which is rapidly becoming obsolete.

You could use a custom third-party slideshow...  perhaps along the lines that Jamie suggested?
